Fallout 76recently introduced a new repeatable endgame activity, the Skyline Valley Caravans, where players can use their Caps to manage and run their own Caravan company. Although, for many reasons,Caravans were a cause for controversy inFallout 76when they were first introduced. Disregarding the technical issues that this activity faced, Caravans were expected to be the ultimate endgame currency sink. Unfortunately, though, Caravans didn’t quite manage to deliver the kind of rewards that could keep players interested in the long term.
However, a recent update has fixed some of the issues that Caravans faced, while also making a generous change to the event’s rewards that finally make good on a missed opportunity for the activity. As of a new patch released forFallout 76on October 22, Caravans can now reward players with Legendary Scrip, in addition to increased Caravan Supplies. Not only is this the exact kind of change that players were calling for, but it’s arguably the perfect way to make Caravans a worthwhile endgame currency sink.
Fallout 76’s New Update Delivers Highly Requested Improvements to Caravans
WhenFallout 76first introduced Caravans, the host player who spent their Caps to initiate the event would receive 5, 25, or 50 Supplies for completing a small, medium, or large Caravan, respectively. Meanwhile, any contributors who helped the host player’s Caravan would only receive 1, 2, or 5 Supplies. Understandably, the poor rewards for contributors led many fans to call for Bethesda to improve the rewards for Caravans. Additionally, since this activity often experienced unavoidable bugs that caused the event to fail,Fallout 76’s Skyline Valley Caravansquickly became a controversy.
InFallout 76’s October 22 update, several bugs in the Caravan activity have been addressed, while the rewards for the event have also been improved. Now, not only do Caravans provide increased Supplies for players who help contribute to Caravans they didn’t initiate, but contributors can also get Legendary Scrip from completing Caravans. Additionally, a way for players to spend their Supplies to earn Legendary Scrip will be coming in a future update. With Caravans now being a roundabout way to convert Caps to Legendary Scrip, this change arguably makes them a worthwhile currency sink.
New Rewards For Completing Skyline Valley Caravans in Fallout 76
While the host player who initiates a Caravan won’t receive any Legendary Scrip from the event, there will soon be a new Caravan crew member players can hire, who can exchange Supplies for Legendary Scrip and other rewards. This new Caravan crew member is expected to be introduced inFallout 76’s Gleaming Depths update, coming in December 2024.
Fallout 76’s New Caravan Rewards Will Make the New Legendary Crafting System Grind More Enjoyable
What makes the new Caravan rewards especially worth celebrating is that they couldn’t have come at a better time. Recently,Fallout 76introduced a completely new Legendary crafting system to the game, which has led many players to run through their reserves of Legendary Scrip and Legendary Modules trying to craft and trade formeta weapons and armor inFallout 76.
Instead of randomly rolling every Legendary effect, players can craft individual Legendary effects as mod boxes and then apply these mods to the desired armor and weapons, adding or replacing the legendary effect on the gear. Overall,Fallout 76’s new Legendary crafting systemgives players a lot more control to craft the perfect gear, but this new system has turned out to be quite expensive to utilize. However, with the improved rewards for Caravan contributors, and the new Caravan crew member coming in the Gleaming Depths update,Fallout 76’s Caravans activity will finally be a worthwhile endgame currency sink.
