Meta Builds Dominate Fallout 76’s PvP

There was originally a battle royale game mode inFallout 76, known as Nuclear Winter. However, this was removed from the game in 2021, allegedly due to a lack of player support. Despite any lingering nostalgia for this game mode and a massive influx of new players coming to the game afterAmazon’s Emmy-winningFalloutseries,Fallout 76still seemingly doesn’t have much of a large following of PvP enthusiasts.

For the players who do participate in the few remaining methods of PvP inFallout 76though, these players are typically invested enough to have a dedicated build with perks, armor, and weapons based on the latest PvP meta. While there’s a little room for flexibility in which legendary effects are considered the meta for PvP builds inFallout 76, there are a few legendary effects that are naturally unfit to utilize in a PvP scenario because their conditions won’t apply. One of these legendary armor and weapon effects is Ghoul Slayer.

Fallout 76’s playable Ghoul characters are said to be resistant to radiation damage, so Bloodied and Unyielding builds likely won’t be viable.

Fallout 76’s Ghoul Slayer Legendary Effect Stats

Even in PvE, Ghoul Slayer is generally considered a bottom-tierlegendary effect inFallout 76because of how situational its utility is compared to other, more universally beneficial legendary effects. However, with the new Ghoul playable characters coming to the game, this legendary effect has the potential to go from one of the worst to one of the best legendary effects inFallout 76, specifically for PvP builds.

Fallout 76’s Ghoul Slayer Legendary Effect Could Be the New PvP Meta

Compared to the two most popular Legendary effects for PvP builds inFallout 76, Assassin and Executioner, Ghoul Slayer has the potential to not only compete with the current meta, but to entirely replace it. At any rate, the PvP meta could arguably benefit from some healthy competition anyway.

While the main attraction of the upcoming Ghoul playable character is reasonably going to be theexclusive Ghoul perk cards and world interactions,Fallout 76shouldn’t pass up on the chance to give new life to one of the most overlooked legendary effects in the game. This kind of synergy seems like a natural fit for the Ghoul Slayer legendary effect that could have implications even beyondFallout 76’s relatively small community of regular PvP players.

For players who don’t regularly participate in PvP, Ghoul Slayer armor, weapons, and mod boxes could become a hot item to trade or sell after the Ghoul playable character gets added to the game. So, especially with thenew Legendary crafting system inFallout 76, players may want to reconsider scrapping any legendary gear that has the Ghoul Slayer legendary effect.
