Summary

WhenFalloutSeason 2 eventually arrives on Amazon Prime, it will be welcomed with open arms by legions of viewers who have long called the first season one of the best video game adaptations ever. The characters, the way the story was told and the ability to blend comedy and action and actual heart into the show was a feat that simply isn’t accomplished all that often.

However, one of the biggest drawbacks ofFalloutis something that seems to be becoming a trend in the streaming world. And for whatever reason, it only happens in the streaming world. It’s an odd change from cable where people knew what to expect and when. And it’s not just the fact that streaming series tend to be quite a bit shorter than the old over-the-air programs that used to have 30 episodes and then even when they were paired down for modern times, still usually offered up 22 episodes, or even at least 15. Theshorter seasons for these streaming seriesseems to have worked in that there isn’t as much filler. There aren’t as many “bottle episodes” that journey outside of the main story to fill an episode. But Fallout does appear to be following a trend that no one really likes and doesn’t seem to be slowing down. It’s also a trend that seems to have largely started out of necessity, but that necessity doesn’t exist any longer.

Death Stranding fans predict Fallout tv show’s Ella Purnell is in the cast

Fallout Season 2 Might Be Years Away

Falloutstar Ella Purnell shed some lighton what appears to be the show following a formula that has become far too common. It’s going to be years before Season 2 hits the airwaves. In sitting down withDiscussing Film, she talked about how excited she is to get back to the world of the post-apocalypse society that is still trying to dig itself out and repair itself. However, even she doesn’t know just when that’s going to happen. It’s not the first time that a star from the series has had similar comments. What makes it frustrating is this means the series won’t be back until at least 2026.

Showrunners

Graham Wagner, Geneva Robertson-Dworet

Purnell said she hasn’t even seen a script for Season 2 ofFallout. Back in August, the writers of the showdid say that they were working as fast as they could while also making sure they maintained the quality of the first season. That’s all fans could really ask for, as thepremiere installment was incredibly good. But two months later and the lead actor hasn’t seen a script isn’t great news for those who were hoping the Amazon Prime series would return in late 2025.

Keep in mind that the further this step of the production takes to really get into gear, the further into 2025 it goes, the less chance there is that it will be out in 2026. Is it possible it won’t be until 2027, a full three years after its launch, before fans of the series seeFalloutSeason 2? It’s unlikely it will be that long, but even arriving late in 2026 means the show is keeping up what has been a weird trend in streaming television.

Far too many shows are no longer annual. They are at least two years in between seasons. And that causes a problem that might eventually get bigger the more shows that do it. While these programs need to want tomake sure they stay high quality, there is a chance that they can also lose momentum.

Fallout Season 2 Not Striking While The Iron Is Hot

There are a lot of streaming services out there these days. And most of them are producing original content. Netflix, Peacock, Amazon Prime, Paramount+, Shudder, Max, Apple TV+, and more are all putting out their own shows and movies faster than ever before. But they’re all following an odd formula of,instead of focusing on a few propertiesand making sure that fans of those properties are being treated to annual installments, they keep launching new IPs.

Waiting for as long as the showrunners fromFalloutseem to be waitingruns the very real riskof the interest in the show fading. In fact, it’s clear they hope making people wait will only grow the interest. Certainly the most devoted fans will indeed be excited about a second installment. People who went and immediately played the games aren’t dropping off. But not everyone who watched the first season were dedicated gamers. People who found the world for the first time in the Amazon Prime series could end up falling off and looking for something else in the meantime.

There is no official release date for Fallout Season 2 yet.

The approach has burned streaming series before. Apple TV+ sees this problem pop up more than most. The streamer routinelyputs out critically acclaimed showsbut keeps losing viewers because of a lack of promotion and not striking while the iron is hot. Amazon Prime is inexplicably following suit.
