The Hall of the Novice is a training ground with a number of tutorial duties that introduce the basics of gameplay in dungeons and group content. Though some of its lessons are a little outdated, completing the Hall of the Novice is an excellent way fornew players inFinal Fantasy 14to not only learn the ropes, but get some powerful and sharp-looking leveling gear as well.
Now, it seems the Hall of the Novice is getting some brand-new training missions soon.During the recentFinal Fantasy 14Letter from the Producer Live, the critically-acclaimed MMORPG confirmed the Hall of the Novice was being updated to include some basic endgame training missions in Patch 7.1. These optional courses will become available starting at level 49, and will introduce players to common boss mechanics, such as stack markers, spread markers, and tank busters.
Final Fantasy 14 Patch 7.1 Hall of the Novice Updates
Referred to by the developers as a “boot camp for gimmicks,” fans can expect to learn many of the most common abilities used bybosses inFinal Fantasy 14during the courses. Beyond the mechanics confirmed during the presentation, the lessons will probably cover common techniques like look-away markers, time bombs that explode if the character doesn’t stop moving, or freezing mechanics that punish those who do. According to the developers, there will be a quiz of some sort at the end of the training courses to make sure fans remember the difference between the various indicators.
Fans ofFinal Fantasy 14are glad the Hall of the Novice is getting these new training courses. Many players have stories ofseeing sprouts inFinal Fantasy 14flattened by a boss after running away with their first stack marker, while others have stories of them being the unfortunate person to make that same mistake. Fans hope these training courses will help new players avoid these hilarious-but-embarrassing gaffes, and that they will herald a refresh for some of the other Hall of the Novice tutorials, as they haven’t been updated sinceHeavensward.
