During the keynote address of the 2024 Korea FanFest in Seoul,Final Fantasy 14producer and director Naoki Yoshida shared new screenshots of features coming to Dawntrail soon. The newFinal Fantasy 14features that Yoshida discussed were the Echoes of Vana’diel alliance raid, Cosmic Exploration, and the Shades' Triangle adventuring foray.
The news came just weeks afterFinal Fantasy 14gave players a first look at Patch 7.1, Crossroads, during the 2024 Tokyo Game Show. Slated to launch in mid-November, the Crossroads content update will continue the main story ofDawntrail, which is expected to fully wrap up in 2025 during Patch 7.3. In addition to story content, Patch 7.1 will also be the first of two major tuning updates for PVP activities, and will give the long-neglected Hall of the Novice a new, intermediate challengethat will teachFinal Fantasy 14players about certain markers, such as stacking signals and tankbuster indicators.
In addition to more main story content and quality-of-life changes coming toFinal Fantasy 14in future patches, Yoshida gave players some new looks at a few planned features. Yoshida’s keynote in Seoul went over some ofDawntrail’s main features that the Korean version ofFinal Fantasy 14will receive on December 3. Yoshida also expressed his hope that the Korean version ofFinal Fantasy 14would be updated at the same time as the global client. As his address turned toward the features planned forDawntrail’s patch cycle, Yoshida shared some new screenshots that had not been seen before at any FanFest. Starting with the Echoes of Vana’diel alliance raid series, which will begin in Patch 7.1, Yoshida revealeda notorious monster fromFinal Fantasy 11called Fafnir would appear, but did not elaborate if the draconic foe was a boss or not.
Yoshida Shares New Screenshots From Dawntrail’s Upcoming Features
In additional screenshots, Yoshida shared more details about the Shades' Triangle adventuring foray. Drawing inspiration from the previous Eureka and Bozja forays, Yoshida said that fans ofFinal Fantasy 5and its various Jobsmay recognize some of the sprites in the screenshot. Yoshida also shared two new pieces of concept art from the Cosmic Exploration feature, a gate and a robotic mount that could be piloted.
Between the return ofthe All Saints' Wake seasonal eventand the features discussed at the Korea FanFest,Final Fantasy 14players will have their fill of content in the months ahead. It remains to be seen when Yoshida will speak to players again.
