Fortnite’s annual Fortnitemares event is back, and with it comes an exciting variety of skins and events for players to look forward to. FromTexas Chainsaw Massacre’s Leatherface to Mephisto from Marvel Comics, this year’s new lineup has introduced plenty of iconic characters toFortnitein honor of the Halloween season. One addition in particular, though, has brought one of the more recent genre icons into the spotlight.

A Surprise in Freaky Fields
When players land in Freaky Fields, there is more than other opponents to worry about. Once entering the big white house located in the area, Billy will pop out of the TV, pickaxe in hand, and immediately start swinging. Since he has a considerable amount of health, it’s not wise to go head-to-head in a pickaxe fight. Instead, players will want to make sure they’re well-armed ahead of time, so Billy can be taken out fairly quickly. There are plenty ofshout-outs to theSawfranchise in Fortnitemares, but a Billy boss fight is definitely one of the more heart-pounding nods to the grisly horror series.
Win an Exciting Mythic Item
After players take down Billy, he drops a pretty greatMythic Item called the Boom Billy. The Boom Billy is a set of three explosives that look like terrifying tiny versions of Billy on his iconic tricycle. When throwing these projectiles, they will seek a target to lock onto, inflicting opponents with an impressive 75 damage. This item alone is plenty of a reason to take on Billy in Freaky Fields, but it may be easier said than done.

Beating Other Players to the Punch
Although he has plenty of health, defeating Billy when one is properly armed isn’t too difficult. However, the most challenging aspect of this boss fight is trying to get to him before other players do.When flying into Freaky Fields, it’s easy to run into multiple players in the house who are trying to do the exact same thing. This can make the task a pretty harrowing experience. Thankfully, there are other ways to get the Boom Billy, either by luck of finding it in a chest or by completing Jigsaw’s Challenge.

Fortnitehas featured plenty of great faces from iconic horror franchises in the past, and this year continues that tradition, but with even more variety. There’s something for fans of more hardcore horror,likeTexas Chainsaw MassacreandSaw, while there’s plenty of Halloween-themed skins that bring a great spooky vibe, like Edward Scissorhands and a trio of Disney Villains. Billy the Puppet has become one of the most notable horror characters of the 21st-century, and playing such a large part in this year’s event further illustrates the character’s influence on the genre since theSawfranchise began.
The Disney villains playing part in Fortnitemares are Captain Hook, Cruella De Vil, and Maleficent.
So far,Fortnite’s Fortnitemares event has been a fun way for many to get into the Halloween spirit.
