There is a surprisingly large amount of content that was added toHades 2with the Olympic Update, thefirst major content update forHades 2since its Early Access launched in early 2024. In addition to everything that was announced in the trailer, and everything listed in the patch notes, there are a few hidden new features – like the ability to attempt to wake Hypnos.
Hypnos has been fast asleep in his chairsince the launch ofHades 2Early Access, but now Melinoë is given a chance to wake up the sleeping God and learn more about exactly what he’s been up to. Though we can’t permanently wake up Hypnos inHades 2yet, this update marks the first step in what will likely become a short quest chain to wake Hypnos.
What Happens When You “Wake” Hypnos In Hades 2?
In the early days of the Early Access forHades 2, Hypnos was fast asleep and practically non-interactable. He can be found just north of the Garden and the entrance to Melinoë’s training grounds, but before the Olympic Update, Hypnos would just snore when interacted with, and any Gifts given would be refused.
But with theOlympic Update comes a new Incantationthat unlocks a new interaction with Hypnos. Now, Melinoë can gift him Dream Vapors made with a new incantaiton. This draught, supposedly, will rouse Hypnos' deep slumber.
But when gifted to him, you will not actually wake up the God of Sleep – instead, Melinoë will enter a dream realm version of the House of Hades.
Explore this hidden area to find the still-sleeping body of Hypnos, slumbering even in this dream realm. Talk to Hypnos to get a few new lines of dialogue slurred in between sleepy mumblings, then you will be sent back to The Crossroads.
The Hypnos questline inHades 2is likely to continue to develop over the Early Access, and this guide will be updated to include later steps to wake Hypnos inHades 2as they become available.
How To Unlock End to Deepest Slumber Incantation In Hades 2
Upon logging intoHades 2after the Olympic Update has been installed, you will not automatically unlock the End To Deepest Slumber incantation. There are two prerequisites to unlock End To Deepest Slumber as an option in your Cauldron: you must try to gift Hypnos nectar twice, and you must have acquired at least one Poppy.
Once you meet these two requirements, talk to Hypnos every time you end up back in the Crossroads until Melinoë gets the idea to try this Incantation. Head back to the Cauldron (when Hecate isn’t using it) to find the End To Deepest Slumber Incantation available.
How To Get Dream Vapors & Wake Hypnos
The End To Deepest SlumberIncantation requires 3x Poppy, 2x Mandrake, and 1x Moly to create the Dream Vapors item.
Do one more Run (or gift a special item to any NPC) to pass time and let your plants grow. When you get back to the Crossroads, harvest your Poppy and Mandrake (and make sure you have 1x Moly) and unlock End To Deepest Slumber. Once you get your Dream Vapors, head over to Hypnos and Gift it to him to begin the House of Hades flashback sequence.
