AlthoughHelldivers 2became a smash hit upon release back in February, various controversies and frustrations due to constant game balancing have eroded confidence of fans, leaving many frustrated at the state of the game. However, after taking in feedback, Arrowhead has managed to turn things around thanks to a massive new update in September, addressing a huge amount of issues put forth by the community, and making positive changes to the overall experience.
In order to continue thepositive momentum from the recentHelldivers 2update, Arrowhead continues to address lingering issues with the game. A small update has been released forHelldivers 2, largely focusing on fixing potential crash triggers, as well as existing bugs. Specifically, two crashes have finally been addressed, one linked to a situation that could arise when “unique stim pistol owners” leave the game. The other crash has been linked to players on a fresh account equipping any previously purchased hellpod skin.
Alongside a duo of crash fixes, the update also addresses various bugs still impacting the game, including players who were wearing heavy armor that were suddenly immune to gas effects. This update also makes big adjustments to audio, specifically for bothHelldivers 2’s Terminid and Automaton enemies, where Arrowhead has both cleaned up and rebalanced the voice lines. The change was made to help make them more audible in various situations, making them easier for players to locate. The update also lists out remaining known issues, which include some of the top priority ones like a title screen crash, enemies that can shoot through walls, eradication missions that don’t spawn enough enemies, and more.
One thing that this patch or other recent updates continue to avoid mentioning is the prospect of the heavily rumored third faction. For months now, rumors, teases, and even potentially datamined information indicate that the Illuminate are going to be coming toHelldivers 2at some point. Arrowhead continues to stay silent on that possibility, though there have been a few teases here and there, including one incident that seeminglyadded the new Illuminate faction to theHelldivers 2galaxy mapbefore it was quickly removed.
