How to Beat Rivals in REDACTED

There are eight Rivals in[REDACTED], each with remote attacks that can make your life difficult until you meet them in a face-to-face battle. Sometimes, these attacks can be countered or even used to your advantage, but often, they make the levels even more challenging.

The best way to deal with their remote attacks is to get ahead of them in the race because Rivals will often only attack you if you’re behind them. You can use your own remote attacks to do so - stopping attacks like Lockdown and slowing attacks like Static Field are particularly useful to ensure they never get too far ahead of you. You can also try to kill Rivals straight off the bat by using Damage Remote Attacks, but this can be challenging because Damage Attacks tend to tick down their health slowly.

Ultimately, you’ll want to upgrade your remote attacks so you can get the best value out of them. The more you level up your attacks, the more likely you’re also able to kill them straight off the bat with damage attacks, and that will obviously take them off the field so you can win the race to the escape pod. Additionally, Rivals will not heal from the damage they take when you do Remote Damage Attacks, making them even more vulnerable when you catch up to them and fight them.

You can upgrade your remote attacks using Electronics, which you can drop by choosing rooms with Electronics as the reward or defeating Elite enemies. You can usually find these enemies in the middle of each biome, and they’re a tough fight, but they drop excellent rewards as a result.

Remote attacks are on a cooldown, but this cooldown gets shorter the quicker you clear rooms and then use your attacks as soon as you have them. Aim for a combination of damage and stopping/slowing attacks, as this will make it easier to deal with each Rival when you reach them and fight them head-on. If you play your cards right, you can fight them in the Convict Cagematch biome - although they’re tough enemies, so make sure you’re ready before you meet them.

Tips to Deal with Rival Remote Attacks

Each Rival also has a certain kind of specialty in[REDACTED], so you can try and sus out what kind of remote attacks they’re going to use. For example, Sark loves drowning the room in gas, so you constantly take damage, and Zach makes the room cold, so your movement is slower. There are some generic attacks that each Rival will use against you, though, and there are some tips for the more challenging attacks:
