If you’ve never played aPersonagame or a similar RPG, then you may be wondering at what point you can begin to issue commands to your allies, as they’ll initially act on their own accord.
Thankfully, it’s not far into the story that you get the option to select who and how your allies attack. As soon as you’re able to control them, you canfocus on appraising their gearto make them stronger in battle. For now, though, here is everything you need to know when you may gain control of party members inMetaphor: ReFantazio.
How To Control Party Members in Metaphor ReFantazio
You will gain control of your allies inMetaphor: ReFantazioas they awaken to their Archetype power.For example, while Strohl is initially a guest character who will attack enemies with his sword, he becomes a controllable party member during the boss encounter with Captain Klinger in the mines. He will awaken into the Warrior Archetype and become usable from that boss fight onward.
Once you’ve beaten Captain Klinger, and after emerging from Akademeia, you will get a prompt saying that you can now give instructions to your allies during battle, taking full advantage ofMetaphor: ReFantazio’s unique combat mechanics. From this point, you can control your party member’s actions manually by using one of the buttons on-screen for each of the main actions:
In addition, you can use the left and right buttons to switch the target of your attacks, while the up and down buttons change your current formation. Some enemy attacks work depending on which row you’re standing in, so it can be a handy way to dodge. Finally, if you need a suggestion for the best course of action, the Assist mechanic will give you an option that you can take or leave.
Metaphor: ReFantazio Party Tactics
If you wish for your allies to act on their own,push the right analog stick on your controller or press 3 on your keyboard to initiate auto-battle.This will allow your allies to act according to their tactical settings.
To view these tactical settings,press the LB/L1 button on your controller or the Tab key on your keyboardwhile in battle to bring up the Tactics menu. Alternatively, go to the main menu, select Party, then press the X/Square button or the H key to select Tactics and bring up the list of options for each party member. By default, this is selected to “Let them decide.” You won’t be able to control or set tactics for any party member labeled as a guest, so bear that in mind if you’re venturing into a dungeon with theintention of training to earn Maglato upgrade your party’s Archetypes.
