Energy beams have always played an important role intheDragon Ballfranchise, and this is once again the case inDragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO. When players find themselves on the receiving end of one, some may attempt to get out of the way of it or block it so as to minimize damage. However, for those who know how, there’s actually a third option:deflecting beams.

By using a skill known as perception,Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZEROplayers can deflect energy beams and ki blasts, which can come in pretty clutch in certain situations. In fact, they’ll need to make use of this skill as part of Goku’s Episode Battle saga, which requires players to deflect a Crusher Ball in order to unlock an alternate timeline.

How to Deflect a Crusher Ball in Arrival on Planet Namek

In order to deflect Jeice’s Crusher Ball, players will needaround one bar of kiandtwo Skill points. The former is needed because they’ll have to use Perception in order to deflectpowerful ki attacks, and Perception constantly drains ki while it’s in use. The latter is important because deflecting a super will use up two skill points, which players can keep track of in the top left-hand corner of the screen. Assuming they have these two things, the process for deflecting Jeice’s Crusher Ball is actually remarkably simple.

Players who are having trouble deflecting Jeice’s Crusher Ball attack should switch to the easy difficulty setting. Doing so disables the secondary objective, which automatically forces Jeice to swap out for Burter after his health falls to a certain level. Players can then return to the encounter on the default difficulty setting and defeat Jeice as normal to experience the what-if? scenario.

Players should start the fight as usual and thenwait until Jeice prepares to use Crusher Ball, which is easy enough to identify due to the short cinematic in which he says “This’ll end it!” Once this happens, players should quicklypress and hold either the Circle (Playstation) or B (Xbox) button, which will activate Perception. If done correctly and players have two Skill points stored up, Goku will catch and deflect the Crusher Ball, causing Jeice to leave the battle and Burter to take his place.

Those using classic controls will need to press and hold Circle + Triangle (PlayStation) or B + Y (Xbox).

The process for deflecting other types of beams and ki blasts inDragon Ball: Sparking! ZEROis exactly the same as the one described above.
