How to Step in Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero

Using the Step and the Dash is something the game teaches you during the opening tutorial, but it’s one of your most useful tools in evading enemies and closing distance. By pressing the step/short dash button (X on PS5, A on Xbox, and F on PC) while holding a direction, you’ll perform a short dash in that direction. When pressing towards a foe, or away from a foe, you’ll move directly towards them or away from them. When pressing to the left or right, you’ll move to the side, but if you’re close to an opponent you’ll also circle them a little, rather than moving directly in the chosen direction.

Doing this can help you avoid incoming attacks, but only if you do it early before the attack is close to connecting. This makes it best suited to avoiding beam attackswhen you’re a reasonably long distance from your foe.

Dragon Ball Sparking Zero_Vanish

How to Vanish in Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero (High-Speed Evasion)

Vanishing, or “High-Speed Evasion”, is one of the most useful methods of escaping incoming attacks and positioning yourself for a counterattack. By pressing the block button (R1 on PS5, RB on Xbox, and E on Keyboard) right as an enemy attack would hit, you’ll disappear and reappear behind them. Attacking after doing this is a great way to interrupt your opponent and start your own combo, though your opponent can use their vanish and attempt the same when you try it.

Vanishing can be used on almost any attack and even to evade super attacks and ultimate attacks if your timing is perfect. If your timing is off, but you held the button down, you might still be able to block the incoming Super, though ultimate attacks will land regardless.

Dragon Ball Sparking Zero_Sonic Sway

How to Use Sonic Sway in Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero (Super Perception)

Sonic Sway is a high-risk, high-reward evasive maneuver inDragon Ball: Sparking! Zero. By pressing the Perception Button (Circle on PS5, B on Xbox, and Q on PC) just as an attack is about to hit you, you’re able to perform a Sonic Sway, dodging your opponent’s attack and draining their Ki Bar in the process.Sonic Sway only works on Rush Attacks, though Super Perception, which Sonic Sway is a variant of, can be used to deflect other kinds of attacks (excluding ultimate attacks, which must be evaded by dashing or vanishing) in a similar way.
