Fear the Spotlightplayers will arrive in front of the Sunnyside Theater aftersolving the Fuse Box puzzlein the Gymnasium and turning on the HVAC unit outside. Once you enter the Webber Building, the reason behind all the smoke from earlier becomes apparent. There’s a massive fire in the Theater’s entrance. Thankfully, there are water sprinklers on the ceiling, and if you manage to turn them on, you’re able to get in.
However, turning on the sprinklers is easier said than done. You’ll see a sewer entrance with a weird lid in the courtyard. There are two handles that you’ll be able to interact with to rotate two inner discs. You’ll also find a map showing your position and the different West and East Hallway rooms. A door on the left requires a key, and your path on the right is blocked off by wreckage.
Getting into the Theater in Fear the Spotlight
With no obvious path forward, your first task issolving the sewer entrance puzzle.Interact with the two handles until they form a vine. This will activate the lid and reveal a ladder you’re able to use to enter the sewers.
Go down and use your Flashlight to navigate the sewer. You’ll find a cabinet that you can open. Collect the Hallway Keys from the Statue inside the cabinet. Note that the Statue’s face is missing. There’s nothing else to do here for now, so use the ladder to go back in front of the Theater.
West Hallway
Now that you have the Hallway Keys, you can enter the West Hallway. On the courtyard map, note the locations of the different rooms. Once inside, turn on your Flashlight and keep moving forward. You’ll soon find the door to the Drama class. Go inside.
Head to the table on the left and interact with the rug on the floor. Push it aside, and you’ll see a Metal Hatch with a Strange Keyhole on the ground. Read the notes in the room for some extra lore and then walk out.
Keep heading forward, and you’ll notice some rubble blocking your way on the left. This will lead into the Bathrooms, but you’ll have to find a way to lift them out of the way. A short way ahead, you’ll find the door to the Music Class. You’ll see a TV and a VHS player in the room, but you’ll need to find some TV Cables to connect to them. You’ll also need a VHS tape to play. There’s also a Piano in the room with some blood on a couple of the keys, but you can’t do anything with it yet.
Head out of the Music Class and walk to the end of the hallway to find the door to the Art Class. Explore the room and you’ll find a Jack holding up a table in one corner. Interact with it and pick it up. Right after you pick up the Jack, the room will light up, and the Spotlight Head will enter the classroom. Carefully avoid its stare and make your way back to the West Hallway.
With the Jack picked up, make your way back to the rubble you saw earlier near the Drama Class. Use the Jack to lift the wreckage out of the way. Head through the Blue Door on the right to get inside the Bathroom. Head towards the Mirror and interact with it. Use the Screwdriver in your inventory to unscrew the two screws holding up the middle Mirror.
The Mirror will fall off, and you’ll find the first Face Piece hidden behind it. You’ll also see a note hanging on the wall that you can read. Pick up the Face Piece and walk through the hole in the Bathroom to get to the other side. You’ll find an Inhaler and another letter from the Secret Admirer near the sink.
You’re done with West Hallway for now, but as you leave, you’ll notice a Spotlight shining down from above the ceiling. Like before, avoid stepping into it and return to the main courtyard outside the Theater.
East Hallway
From the courtyard, head towards the rubble blocking the entrance to the East Hallway. you may now use the Jack to lift it and access the hallway. Once inside, take the first door on your right to get into the Literature Class. You’ll find a Puzzle Box on the table with three symbols that you can rotate: a white rose, a heart with a knife pushed into it, and a bird in a cage. You’ll also notice a Projector in the room that you can adjust. To use it, you’ll need to find a Projector Sheet.
Leave the room for now and enter the Digital Media room on the opposite side of the hallway. In this room, you’ll find a Printer that lets you print Projector Sheets. There are two computers, one near the door and the other in the far left corner of the room. You’ll need to find a Floppy Disk to use them. For now, walk out of the room.
Take the long corridor beside the Literature Class, and as you move, you’ll encounter the Spotlight once again. Use the shelves on the two sides for cover, and take the first door on your left to get into the Biology Lab. There will be a big cage hanging in the middle of the room. You can bring it down by pulling on the Rope. Walk up to the Cage and interact with it. Bend the bars using the Pliers you picked up when youunlocked the Rose Door, and grab the TV Cables.
From the Biology Lab, go left and take the door to your right to arrive at Audio Visual. The room is stacked with shelves. Explore the room, and you’ll eventually find the VHS Tape. Pick it up. As you try to walk out of the room, you’ll find that the door is locked. Return to the far end of the room and pick up the Strange Key from the ground.
At this point, the room will fill with Elusive Specters. You can just ignore them and walk out of the main door. It will unlock automatically after you pick up the Strange Key. Carefully make your way back to the main courtyard. You’ve got pretty much everything you need to solve the puzzle.
Return to West Hallway
Go to the Drama Class in the West Hallway and use the Strange Key you picked up with the Metal Hatch you found on the ground. You’ll see a ladder that you’re able to use to go down into a room lined with bookshelves. Go to the final bookshelves to pick up a Blank Floppy Disk and an Inhaler.
Avoid the Spotlight’s line of sight and make your way to the Music Room. Put the VHS Tape into the VCR and attach the TV Cables. A movie will play out, showing you the keys that you have to press on the Piano. Go to the Piano in the room and play the correct keys to open a Hidden Compartment where you’ll find the second Face Piece.
Return to East Hall Way
After picking up the second Face Piece, return to the Computer Lab in the East Hallway. Insert the Blank Floppy Disk into the Computer that’s near the door. As soon as you do this, the Spotlight Head will enter the room. You’ll have to wait for the data to finish storing in the Floppy Disk. Once the bar fills up, grab it.
Now, carefully go to the second Computer and use the Floppy Disk. Then, head towards the Printer and interact with it to get the Projector Sheet. We got caught by the Spotlight Head once but still managed to get our hands on the item and escape the room.
Now, head to the Literature Class right across the hallway and place the Projector Sheet on the Projector. Adjust the Projector so that it focuses on the whiteboard. When done correctly, you’ll see that the sheet displays a poem. This is your clue for solving the Puzzle Box in the same room.
In the puzzle box, rotate the Rose symbol until it points upwards. Set the next symbol so that the is knife pointing at 11 o’clock. Finally, the symbol should be set with the bird in a cage pointing downwards. Click on the switch, and the Puzzle Box will open, revealing the third Face Piece inside it.
Turning the Sprinklers On
With the three Face Pieces in your inventory, you can now head back to the sewers in the main courtyard. Use the Face Pieces with the Statue you found earlier to reveal a secret tunnel heading into the Water Pump Room. Take a moment to explore the room. Interact with the Water Pump System, and you’ll notice a missing Pipe.
There’s an Inhaler in the room that you can pick up near the bookshelf.
Take the corridor on the left and note the prison cell. You’ll need a key to unlock it. Keep moving forward and climb up the stairs on your left. Enter the tunnel that appears at the top and you’ll arrive in a Dressing Room.
Open the Storage Trunk in the room to find the Prison Cell Key. Use it to unlock the Prison Cell you saw earlier and pick up the Bloody Pipe from the trash bin. Then, head back to the water pump system and use it to fill the missing pipe piece.
To get the pump working, you’ll have to set the handles in the correct positions. Here’s the correct layout:
Now click on the Button near the pump to activate the sprinkler system and extinguish the fire that’s burning outside the Theater.
With that, you’re now free to head back to the main courtyard and can access the Theater. However, the game’s not over yet, as players will soon have to face the final boss of Vivan’s Story inFear the Spotlight.
