The Forever Winteris a post-apocalyptic extraction shooter set in a Sci-Fi “Forever War.” Players must traverse active warzones to retrieve the resources needed for their settlement in “The Innards” to survive, dodging soldiers and mechanical war machines as they go.
Inevitably, however,The Forever Winterwill get the better of you and you’ll end up dying. Fortunately, you aren’t completely out of luck as, while your items are all dropped on death, they can be recovered by heading back to the place where you died. This guide will go into detail on how to recover your lost gear.
How to Get Your Stuff After Dying in The Forever Winter
After you die, you’ll find yourself back at the Innards.If you want to recover your lost gear, you’ll need to head back to the area you previously died in. (naturally, you’re able to use a different entry point if preferred.) Make sure to pack healing items and ammo so that you can survive long enough to reach the spot where you died. Once you arrive in the area where you died,you’ll be able to see a tombstone icon on the compass, guiding you to the spot where you died.
When you get to the spot indicated on the map you’ll be able to find your lost gear on the ground, recovering it with a single press of the E Key. (Or, if you’ve changed your interact key, whichever key you’ve set as you interact key.) Once you’ve done that,make it to an extraction point to bring all of your gear back home.Dying again after grabbing it means you’ll have to trek back out here again, so do your best to avoid that.
It is important to note that the game only saves one set of lost gear at a time, so failing to retrieve your gear before dying again will result in the first set of lost gear being permanently lost. Furthermore, extracting from an area successfully without recovering your lost gear will also result in it being permanently lost, so you must retrieve it on your next excursion or lose it permanently.
