Any party member, notjust the protagonist, can equip any Archetype, giving players a large degree of freedom in how they build their party inMetaphor: ReFantazio. Each Archetype can be individually leveled up which will give the Archetype new skills or passives to work with in combat.

While this seems like it would limit the overall build of each character, Skill Inheritance lets players put just about any skill on any Archetype even if that Archetype wouldn’t normally learn that skill. Here’s how Skill Inheritance works and how to increase how many skills you can inherit onto an Archetype.

How To Use Skill Inheritance In Metaphor: ReFantazio

Skill Inheritance is done at Akademia, and is the second option from the top when talking to More. From there, you’ll need to pick which character then which of their Archetypes you want to inherit a skill onto. Aninherited skill takes up an additional slot, and won’t change or get rid of any of the usual skills that the Archetype will or already does know.

After selecting which Archetype you wish to inherit a skill to, you’ll be given a list of skills to choose from, each costingvarious amounts of MAGto inherit depending on the strength of the skill.

Passive Skills usually cost the most but can still be inherited.

The list of skills you’re able to choose from are all theother skills learned by any other Archetype from that same character. This further incentivizes players to try out or at least level up other Archetypes as it sometimes may be worth leveling up an Archetype just to get one skill to later inherit.

How To Get More Skill Inheritance Slots In Metaphor: ReFantazio

The number of skills that can be inherited onto an Archetype is determined by the equipped Archetype. As your level with that follower increases, every few ranks will reward an additional Skill Inheritance slotfor Archetypes of that tree. Every Archetype starts out with one Skill Inheritance slot and can work their way up to four by the time that follower is maxed out. This does limit some Archetypes more than others as some followers are tied to story progression, like the Gunner, while others can be maxed out or leveled up multiple times very early into the game.
