Mo & Krill disrupts the enemy team inDeadlockby disarming them, knocking them up in the air, or even holding down a single hero so his allies can take him down. To make matters worse, he’s also not an easy hero to take down for the enemy team. He has a powerful healing ability to regain a big chunk of his lost health quickly, and when things get tricky, he can even Burrow underground to block off most of the incoming damage.
Of course, putting all his abilities to use requires a good bit of practice and skill. We’ve compiled this complete build guide for Mo & Krill to help players who want to try their hand with this dynamic duo inDeadlock!
Deadlock Mo & Krill Overview and Ability Details
Mo & Krill is one of the best brawlers inDeadlock. His abilities let him get up close and dish out insane levels of damage from minute one. Theshotgun weapon that he usesas his primary also has decent DPS right off the bat. The hero scales well with Spirit Power and has four abilities like any other hero inDeadlock.
Upgrades
Scorn
Deal damage to nearby enemies and heal yourself based on the damage done. Heal is stronger against enemy heroes.
Burrow
Burrow underground, moving faster and gaining spirit and bullet armor. Damage from enemy heroes will reduce the speed bonus. When you jump out, knock enemies into the air and perform a spin attack that damages and slows. Cooldown starts when Burrow ends.
Sand Blast
Spray sand that disarms enemies in front of you and deals damage.
Combo
Hold the target in place, stunning them and dealing damage during the channel. If they die during Combo, you permanently gain max health.
Mo & Krill Build Guide
All of Mo & Krill’s abilities scale well with Spirit Power. So that’s what we’ll play around with for this build. With this item build and ability progression, you’ll become a tanky frontline that can deal insane damage whileproviding excellent crowd control by the time you reach late-game. Here’s how the build works:
Mo & Krill Ability Order
With Mo & Krill, Scorn is the first ability you’ll want to unlock. This ability not only deals damagebut also heals youfor a portion of the damage it deals. So you’ll be able to trade hits with your opponent, run in close, and use Scorn to get back some of your lost HP. Go for Burrow as your next unlock, followed by Sand Blast. Unlock Combo when it becomes available.
For upgrades, put your early APs into Scorn to get it to level 2. This will reduce its cooldown and also give it a decent boost in damage. Max out Burrow next, and once it’s fully leveled, put 5 APs into Scorn. Upgrade Combo to the max level next, and after that, start putting points into Sand Blast.
Mo & Krill Item Progression
Since our build focuses on getting the most damage from Mo & Krill’s abilities, we’ll go for items that increase your Spirit Power. Mo & Krill also has one of the most powerful healing abilities inDeadlock, which also scales with Spirit Power. So this build will also turn you into a decent tank in the late game. Here are the items you’ll want to pick up on Mo & Krill for this build:
Early Game:
Much of Mo & Krill’s early game revolves around picking up items that increase his sustain and add some spirit damage to the hero. But the first two items you’ll want to pick up areMonster RoundsandClose Quarters. Since the hero likes to go up close and personal, these two items will make you stronger for the early brawls. After that, Enduring Spirit and Healing Boosters are two must-buy items for sustainability.
Mystic Burst and Infuser will add some much-neededSpirit Power to increase your ability damage. Sprint Boots come next to increase your movement speed. Finally, go for Extra Regen and Extra Spirit, and you’ll be pretty much unkillable for the early skirmishes.
Extra Regen can be skipped if you’re already having a good lane since Scorn also gives you a decent bit of healing early on.
Mid Game:
As you go into the mid-game, you’ll have to go for items that reduce your cooldown so that you may spam them faster during team fights. Being able to use your abilities quickly also lets you clear jungle camps faster in with Mo & Krill. Duration Extender and Improved Cooldown are thetwo absolute best itemson the hero for this reason. Once you have those bought, go for Melee Charge. This will make your Heavy Melee extremely powerful once you come out of Burrow.
Fleetfoot comes next to get rid of the movement penalty while shooting. After that, go for Surge of Power, Improved Spirit, and Torment Pulse in order to add extra Spirit Power to get more damage out of your abilities. Spirit Armor and Point Blank are situational items. Go for Spirit Armor only if you’re having trouble tanking through the enemy team’s spirit abilities. Point Blank is a natural upgrade to Close Quarters, and if you’re playing up close, it’s a decent pickup at this point.
Late Game:
For the late game, prioritize upgrading to Superior Cooldown and Superior Duration as early as possible to reduce the cooldown of your abilities. After that, go for Boundless Spirit and Echo Shard to further boost your ability damage. Replace your cheap orange items with Spiritual Overflow and Pristine Emblem. Upgrade Sprint Boots to Enduring Speed, pick up Superior Stamina, and go for Unstoppable to use your ultimate on an enemy hero without interruption.
With that, your build is nearly complete. However, if you stillhave Flex inventory slotsleft to fill, there are a couple of good choices. Mystic Slow, Improved Reach, and Escalating Exposure are excellent choices for Mo & Krill because of their passive effects and Spirit Power. Refresher can be a good choice, as it allows you to get off Scorn and Burrow two times in a fight. Siphon Bullets can add a nice bit of sustain to the hero. Finally, Warp Stone can help you get into position for your ultimate quickly or even escape when things turn south.
Warp Stone can also be picked up early in the gameagainst heroes like Kelvinto chase them down.
How to Play Mo & Krill in Deadlock
Scorn is your bread and butter for the early game as Mo & Krill. you’re able to use it on the Trooper wave toheal a decent bit of healthwhen it drops too low. Try to stay close to the creeps and secure last hits to build up your Souls and get your early items. Start playing aggressively after the first few items and your main abilities are unlocked. If you’re in a solo lane, you can play behind the enemy creep wave to zone the enemy out. In duo lanes, you’ll need to play a bit safer.
With Mystic Burst picked up and Scorn level 2, you may deal a massive burst of damage whenever your abilities are off cooldown. You can either use this power spike to apply pressure on the enemy hero or shove the lane toward the enemy tower and use your abilities to clear jungle camps more easily. Gainingan early Souls leadwill help you transition faster into the mid-game.
During team fights, Mo & Krill can play as the initiator. Dive into battle using Burrow and close distance with the enemy hero, use Sand Blast to disarm them, use Scorn to heal up, and then use Combo to lockdown an enemy core.Communicate with your teamso that they focus on the target you Combo.
Managing to kill the hero you target with your Combo ability will increase your maximum health, making you even tankier.
With this build, your abilities are your primary source of damage. Since you’ll be playing close to the enemy team, learning toparry properly inDeadlockwill be useful. Also, remember to use your Scorn when surrounded by at least two or more enemy units or heroes. This will give you extra health to play around with.
The secret to playing Mo & Krill well is knowing your limits. The hero can be extremely aggressive when all his abilities are off cooldown. However, you can still die if the enemy team manages to kite out your abilities and keep their distance from you. In those situations, you’ll want to back off and get behind cover to avoid unnecessary damage.
Mo & Krill isa fun hero to spamonce you get past the initial learning curve. While it can certainly be a hard hero to learn, once you know how his abilities work and his best item builds, you’ll have no trouble winning games with this hero inDeadlock.
