In the aftermath of an occult experiment gone wrong, you play as Vivian in search of your friend Amy, who seems to have been captured by an evil force.
As you make your way through a twisted version of your high school, you’ll have to do things likefixing a fuse box, draining a pool, or even breaking into a prison cell. Eventually, you’ll be reunited with your friend, but then you’ll have to defeat the final boss, the Spotlight, who’s been chasing you around throughout your journey. In this guide, we’ll walk you through the steps tobeating the final boss inFear the Spotlightand saving Amy.
How to Save Amy in Fear the Spotlight
When you firstget into the Sunnyside Theater, you’ll face a new challenge to overcome. You’ll see puddles of electrified water that damage you, and to get across, you’ll need to find and shut off a generator. The first generator after entering the Theater can be found on the Balcony. Just head right from the entrance, climb the stairs, and interact with the generator to shut it off.
There’s an Inhaler on the railing that you can pick up.
As you enter the main Theater Hall, you’ll find Amy inside a giant cage hanging over the main stage. Your first instinct might be to run directly to the stage and untie the Ropes, but you’ll find more puddles of electrified water in the area. To make matters worse, a Spotlight from the ceiling will try to track you down.
The first phase of the encounter is simple enough. You’ll need to find and shut off three generators. The first one is to the left of the main entrance. Carefully make your way towards it while avoiding the Spotlight. Once you turn it off, you’ll be able to reach the second generator on the opposite side of the hall.
The idea is the same as before: slowly crouch your way towards it and turn it off. As a bonus, you’ll also find an Inhaler near this spot, which will be useful in the boss fight that comes up shortly. The third generator is near the stairs leading to the stage. Once you turn it off, all the electrified puddles will be gone. When the Spotlight isn’t near you, run up to the stage. The Spotlight will disappear, and you may untie the three ropes to bring Amy down.
How to Beat the Final Boss
After bringing down the cage, a short cutscene will play out. At the end, the Spotlight Head that’s been following you around the entire game will make an appearance. After a few lines of dialogue, it will transform into a boss. To save Amy, you’ll need to defeat the boss.
Like in most classic survival horror games, the final boss fight inFear the Spotlightis about solving a puzzle rather than using brute force. After the cutscene ends, the boss fight will begin.
The boss will jump towards you a couple of times, after which the Spotlight will turn on and begin looking for you. The trick to defeating the boss is to run back to the Generators and turn them on to electrify the puddles of water. After that, you’ll have to bait the boss to jump into the electrified water.
If done correctly, the boss will be stunned. You’ll then have to run up and interact with it to deal damage. You’ll have to repeat this process three times using the three different generators that you turned off earlier in the Theater Hall.
The boss will create burning zones on the ground around where it lands that can hurt you.
The first time you do this, you’ll have to cut the barbed wires on its head using the Pliers in your inventory. After you stun the boss a second time, you’ll need to use the Screwdriver to unscrew the two screws holding the grill. Once you manage to stun the boss a third time, you can use the Screwdriver to strike into the glass and destroy it.
Once you manage to take down the boss, a cutscene will play out, reuniting the player with Amy; but you’re not out of the woods. A wildfire starts erupting all around the Theatre Hall. At this point, you’ll have to start running with Amy. You’ll arrive before the familiarRose Door you unlockedearlier. Run in the opposite direction, and eventually, everything will start spiraling, and you’ll wake up back at the Library where it all began.
This will bring Vivian’s story inFear the Spotlightto an end, but the game is far from over. you’re able to start again, watching the story play out through Amy’s eyes this time.
