Summary
Hunter x Hunterhas one of the most amazing power systems in Shonen manga, called Nen. The nen power system is extremely well thought out, and it is always interestingto see what Togashi comes up withwhen it comes to Nen abilities.
InHxH401, Togashi introduces a new Nen ability, which belongs to none other than Longhi, a fascinating character that fans must keep an eye on in the Succession War.
Who is Longhi?
Longhi is a character that, until recently, fans did not pay that much attention to in the story. Longhi was first introduced in Hunter x Hunter during chapter 369 of the manga, titled “Limits.” This chapter takes place during the Succession Contest Arc that is currently still ongoing. Longhi is the personal bodyguard of 5th Prince Tubeppa, and was introduced alongside the bodyguards of the other princes and queens of the Kakin Empire. She was not the only bodyguard sent by Prince Tubeppa either that day, as Maor was also beside her on orders from the prince to recruit Kurapika to their side, even if that meant striking a deal with Prince Woble.
Longhi would also not reveal until much later that she has Nen. Curiously, she did not raise her hand when asked, “Who can already use nen?” earlier in the story. Even her own Prince has no idea of her powers.
Back then, it was hard to see that Longhi would be a character that stands out. However, her real purpose was finally hinted at at the end of chapter 400, which was released 2 years ago. InHunter X Hunterchapter 402, at the very end, she revealed to Kurapika that she could already use nen and had him agree to her contract that would put Prince Woble in alliance with Prince Tubeppa.
Chapter 401, which came out recently, expanded greatly on what transpired during that meeting. This chapter showcased to fans her nen ability, known as Transparent World - Moonlight Decree – an ability she uses to make a contract with Kurapika. She also revealed some massive information that changes everything fans knew about the Succession War, which this arc revolves around.Longhi is the daughter of Beyond Netero, and she believesthat among the Kakin princes, there is a child of Beyond Netero, someone whom he wants to see seated on the Kakin throne. She and her half-siblings have all been cursed and turned into human sacrifices by their father to achieve this goal.

In just one chapter, Longhi has become one of the most relevant characters in this arc. Especially, since she wishes to kill the prince brother of hers herself when they find out who it is. Longhi’s role will only grow from here onwards.
The Power of Transparent World - Moonlight Decree
A Nen Ability That Falls Under Manipulation
With so much information revealed in chapter 401 ofHunter x Hunter, fans also got to witness a new Nen ability in action, Longhi’s Transparent World - Moonlight Decree.
Transparent World - Moonlight Decree, more than likely, is a manipulation technique, especially as Longhi describes it as a“Conditional Manipulative Ability”. At first, it could be confused as a Specialist ability, as it was shown that she can grant her power for someone to use as a boon, if it’s written in the contract. Giving or stealing abilities is something that has been seen with specialists more than once. However, the way she describes her ability makes it seem like it is manipulation, makingLonghi more than likely to be a Manipulator.
Either way, Longhi’s Transparent World - Moonlight Decree, can be quite a useful ability. This ability basically allows her to create limited-term contracts, which means these contracts will have to be renewed to stay working.
Longhi can include pretty much anything in her contract, to the fans’ knowledge so far. With her contract, she can either bestow boons or restrict the power of the people who sign it. Indeed, Longhi can grant her ability to someone else if they respect her contract. On the other hand, if someone doesn’t follow her contract, then she can force them into a state of Zetsu, a state where the person will be unable to access their aura and hence unable to use their abilities, which can be quite dangerous, especially in a place like the Black Whale.
One of the conditions of Longhi’s ability is also that she is fully truthful when explaining her ability and the terms of the contracts. Hence, deceiving the other person is not possible with her ability. The person signing this contract must also fully consent to the terms and sign it and cannot be forced to do so.
Longhi’s Contract with Kurapika Using Moonlight Decree
A Contract For One Week Between Prince Woble and Prince Tubeppa
Prince Tubeppahas been trying to get Kurapika to her side, as seen chapters ago, even if that would mean forcing an alliance with the 14th Prince currently under the protection of Kurapika, Prince Woble.
Longhi managed to procure exactly what Prince Tubeppa had requested from her by convincing Kurapika to agree to her terms. She laid out everything for Kurapika in the most transparent way possible. The main term of their contract is as follows:
The Princes, queens, and their bodyguards, are not allowed to harm each other. This contract will provide a peace treaty between Prince Tubeppa’s side and Prince Woble’s side.
The contract, if both sides want to renew it, will be renewed once a week on Sunday at 9 am inside room 1014 – the same room where they’re discussing it in the manga. Tubeppa doesn’t have to renew the contract herself, and just has to send one of her representatives to room 1014. It was clarified that non-malicious actions, such as healing someone from Tubeppa’s side, will not breach the contract. So, only harmful actions will count.

If there is a breach of this contract,Longhi stipulates that a state of Zetsu will be forced, depriving someone of their Nen ability for one week. Longhi also adds to the contract that Kurapika and the others with Prince Woble should identify who the Prince child of Beyond is before Tubeppa is out of the Succession War. If there is no son of Beyond found among the princes, then the contract is fulfilled immediately.
