The Hestia Familia Is Known For Its Humble Beginnings
With Hestia at the helm of this small familia, the Hestia Familia’s humble origins can be traced back to six months before the beginning ofDanMachi. After descending from the heavens to Orario, Hestia remained penniless for months, even living off Hephaestus. Eventually, the Blacksmith goddess Hephaetus found Hestia an abandoned church to live in, which later served as the Hestia Familia’s very first base.
After delaying getting new members for her familia, Hestia eventually stumbled upon Bell, a rookie adventurer in need of a familia. Sensing his desperation, Hestia decided to take Bell in as the first member of her familia, giving way to the intimate yet wholesome relationship between the human-god duo.
The Familia’s Members
The Hestia Familia Has a Total Of Six Active Members
The Hestia Familiastarted off with just one member among its ranks, though it eventually grew considerably with a total of six active members. Each season ofIs It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeonhas witnessed the expansion of the familia. In the first season, Liliruca was assimilated into the familia after Bell fought off the Soma Familia to free his partner from their clutches. Welf Crozzo and Yamato Mikoto were also some of the earliest members of the guild, though they merely joined to aid Bell in the war games.
Sanjouno Haruhime joined later on after she was rescued by the Hestia Familia from Ishtar’s sinister plan of killing her off to use her magical abilities. The last member to join the familia was Ryu Lion, a formermember of the Astrea Familiaand arguably one of the strongest adventurers in all of Orario. Since adventurers cannot change their familias for one year after joining a new one, Welf and Mikoto are forced to remain members of the Hestia Familia for at least a year. However, the two are likely to remain members of the guild even after the one-year time limit.
How Strong Is the Hestia Familia?
Each Member Of the Familia Has a Unique Strength
The strength of a familia largely depends on two factors; the total number of familia members and the strength of each individual member. In terms of numbers, the Hestia Familia pales in comparison to other factions, such as theLoki Familia or the Freya Familia. However, the Hestia Familia’s true strength lies in the individual strength of its members. With four level 2, one level 5, and one level 6 member, the Hestia Familia has a decent roster of powerful adventurers and sorcerers.
With the highest levels in the familia, Bell and Ryuu are the two powerhouses of the guild. With his Liaris Freese skill,Bell has risen through the ranksin an extremely short time, even rivaling Aiz Wallenstein’s record of leveling up in such a short duration. On the other hand, the other four members make up for their low level through their own unique strengths. Whether it’s Welf’s extremely rare minted weapons or Liliruca’s strategic leadership, each member of the familia adds a novel strength to the overall familia’s fighting prowess.
The Symbolism Behind the Familia
The Familia Takes Inspirtation From Hestia’s Mythological Roots
As the familia of the goddess of Hearth, the Hestia Familia welcomes all with open arms, irrespective of their status or creed. The familia embodiesHestia’s mythological rootsthrough and through, as each new member has been showered with nothing but warmth and generosity. The current base of operations of the familia is also named after Hestia’s own title, leading to the mansion being known as Hearth Mansion.
The Hestia Familia’s emblem originates from Hestia’s title as well, albeit with a slight iteration. The emblem features a flame surrounding a bell, which is meant to symbolize the very first member of the Hestia Familia, Bell Cranel. While the emblem was created during the war games with the Apollo Familia, the familia ended up permanently adapting the emblem to honor the Hearth Goddess and the very first member of the familia.
