Summary
The members of the Joestar family are the heroic protagonists ofJoJo’s Bizarre Adventure. Each of them contributes something important to the saga, including their unique Stand powers. A continuous debate among the fandom is about which Joestar is the strongest of the bunch. Considering the incredible abilities some of the protagonists ofJoJo’s Bizarre Adventurepossess, it is an interesting topic.
Between Jotaro’s Star Platinum, Giorno’s Gold Experience, or Johnny’s Tusk, which Joestar is the most overpowered of the nine?Jodio’s powers are still too early to gaugecompared to the previous eight, so let’s evaluate the top three Joestars and which of them stands proud as the absolute strongest.
Jotaro Kujo - Star Platinum, The All-Powerful Brawler
Blinding Speeds, Time Manipulation
Jotaro is the protagonist of Stardust Crusaders and the Joestar with the most appearances. Jotaro is also the de-facto face of the franchise, due to how popular he is. Jotaro wields the iconic Star Platinum, a humanoid purple warrior adorned in light armor. Star Platinum is known for his close-quarters proficiency. He packs a mean, and fast, punch. Star Platinum can, at first glance, merely punch at blinding speeds and with colossal force. Each strike from him feels like a meteorite, and he can deliver hundreds in the blink of an eye.
There’s only one reason why you lost…you pissed me off
But Star Platinum’s ultimate power isn’t his physical prowess, but his ability to stop time. Using the chant Star Platinum - The WORLD, Jotaro can stop time for 5 seconds while moving freely. This, combined with his speed, allows Jotaro to dispatch most enemies before they even realize it. Jotaro has taken care of several powerful foes, like Yoshikage Kira, N’Doul, Anubis, and, most famously, DIO Brando. Jotaro’s track record is flawless, and his strength is known by everyone. Enrico Pucci recognized Star Platinum as the single strongest Stand in the world, but are these claims legitimate?
Giorno Giovanna - Gold Experience Requiem, The King of Kings
The Merciless Life-Giver, The Ultimate Defense
Giorno Giovanna is the protagonist of Golden Wind and son of DIO Brando when he possessed Jonathan Joestar’s body. Giorno is effectively half Jonathan and half DIO. Giorno has Jonathan’s sense of justice and heroism and DIO’s cruelty. He wields the powerful Gold Experience. He has the ability toturn objects into animals or plants, creating life. But Giorno doesn’t become truly menacing until he is chosen by the Stand Arrow is evolves into Gold Experience Requiem, The King of Kings.
This is…Requiem
Requiem or GER has an amplified version of his life-creating ability. He can turn objects into deadly animals by shooting them with a finger laser, unlike the standard’s need for physical contact. But Requiem’s true power is Return to Zero, the ability to completely nullify and reject any attack towards him. Requiem uses this ability to deflect Diavolo and King Crimson’s attack and turn the tables against him. He then kills Diavolo by sending him into an infinite death loop, making him die in different ways endlessly, as the ultimate penance.
Requiem had only one fight, but his power made a mark in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure. His ability makes him essentially invincible, able to deflect any attack and return the blow with interest. Giorno’s cunning mind alone is a great asset in battle, but Requiem is fully sentient and independent, making Giorno’s will a non-factor, as Requiem is the ultimate immovable wall.
Johnny Joestar - Tusk Act 4, The Golden Ratio
It’s Been Truly a Roundabout Path
Johnny Joestar is the protagonist of Steel Ball Run. He’s the star jockey participating in the grand Steel Ball Run Race across the United States.Johnny and his friend Gyro Zeppeli battle many deadly enemiesduring the race with the power of the Spin. Johnny wields the unusual Stand named Tusk. Similar to Koichi Hirose’s Echoes, Tusk evolves through “Acts”, becoming stronger and gaining more abilities with each evolution. During a life-or-death battle, Johnny combines the power of the Golden Spin with his own Stand power and Tusk evolves into Act 4.
Tusk becomes massive and gains a definitive version of his Golden Rectangle Nails ability. Imbued with the Infinite Rotation Energy thanks to the Golden Spin, Tusk’s Nail Shot becomes a guaranteed and infinite hit. Once the enemy is hit by Tusk, their death is guaranteed and inescapable. Tusk pummels the foe with his Stand Rush and the killing blow is set.
Thank you…Gyro…
Tusk is essentially the opposite of Gold Experience Requiem. While Requiem is the ultimate defense that deflects any attack, Tusk is the ultimate offense that is guaranteed to hit no matter what. That’s why the hypothetical battle between Giorno and Johnny has been a major topic in the JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure fandom.
For this argument, the answer may be practicality. Johnny’s Tusk Act 4 is a product of a specific, last-resort situation. Johnny needs to channel the Golden Ration and the energy of his horse in a specific way to manifest Act 4, making his use incredibly impractical.Act 4 is difficult to use consistently, while Requiem became a part of Giorno thanks to being the master of the Stand Arrow. However, Tusk Act 4 also battled Diego Brando, so that gives him more panel time than Requiem.
Requiem is the ultimate defense and counter, and Tusk Act 4 is the ultimate offense and guaranteed hit. Requiem is sentient and separate from Giorno, able to act on his own, while Tusk is brought forth in difficult circumstances. Therefore, Giorno Giovanna and his Gold Experience Requiem might just be the strongest member of the Joestar family.
