This article contains spoilers from Jujutsu Kaisen’s Shinjuku Showdown Arc.
Jujutsu Kaisenconcluded recently in the manga, and fans finally know how the story of every character concluded. Of course, some characters received incredibly exciting endings, while others, for the most part, received rather underwhelming conclusions to their stories.
Many genius sorcerers in the world ofJJKwere once described to be the next Gojo, and some others were said to be strong enough to surpass even Special Grade. However, now that the story has ended, fans can look at the various characters in the story with sky-high potential who failed to reach it.
8Fumihiko Takaba
Fumihiko Takaba was introduced in Jujutsu Kaisen in the Culling Game. Although unaware of his own powers, Takaba was said to have a cursed technique, called Comedian, which allows him to bring anything that he thinks is remotely funny into reality. This was described as a broken technique that could rival even Gojo Satoru.
Unfortunately, Takaba never reached those levels and at the end of the series, he was still seen planning his various jokes and comedy scripts. Of course, if JJK were to ever continue, perhaps he can showcase his true potential. But, as things stand, his cursed technique is utterly wasted.
7Nobara Kugisaki
Nobara Kugisaki was always known to be one of the strongest up-and-coming sorcerers inJJK. Of course, she never received as much attention as the likes of Yuji and Megumi, but she was still strong and could potentially have reached very high levels.
Sadly, Nobara was cut out of the entire story, and only returned a few chapters before the end. At this point, it was incredibly hard to gauge how strong she had truly gotten. Regardless, what fans could tell easily was that Nobara was far from fulfilling her potential.
6Hiromi Higuruma
Hiromi Higuruma was introduced to the fans in the Culling Game as an up-and-coming sorcerer, and also quite easily one of the most exciting characters with the most potential. In the battle against Sukuna that he fought in Shinjuku, it was made clear to the fans that Higuruma was a sorcerer with talent on the same level as Gojo.
In fact, even Sukuna paid respect to him, and the fact thathe survived Sukuna’s World Splitting Dismantleis proof of his incredible talent. Despite all that, Higuruma never truly reached his potential. Of course, this has largely got to do with the fact that the series did not give him enough time to grow and ended abruptly. But, at the end of the series, Higuruma was still just an unpolished gem, just as fans found him in the Culling Game.
5Mai Zenin
Mai Zenin is quite an intriguing pick for this list, and this is largely because her technique, which was once seen as weak, was completely redefined by Yorozu, who madeher appearance in the Culling Game. Yorozu and Mai held the same technique, but the way Yorozu utilized it made her one of the strongest in the Heian era.
Mai clearly had great potential but failed to reach it. She died in an attempt to sacrifice herself for her sister so that she could destroy the entire Zenin order and reduce things to ash, which she successfully did.
4Aoi Todo
Todo was once described in the series as one of the most powerful up-and-coming sorcererswho would one day go on to surpass even special grade. However, unfortunately, Todo was never really shown to be that level of threat.
Even when Todo returned in the Shinjuku Showdown Arc, he was never shown to be on the same level as a true Special Grade Sorcerer. Sukuna dealt with them in the end, and despite him having improved his technique drastically, Todo’s true potential was never really met.
3Yuta Okkotsu
Yuta Okkotsu is quite a powerful individualin theJJKseries and a character whom Gojo once proclaimed would go on to reach a similar level to him in the future. Unfortunately, fans never got to see that happen inJJK.
Yuta, despite having immense control over cursed energy and even having Rika at his side, was nowhere close to Gojo’s level at the end. The only way he could come close to Gojo was by actually taking over his body itself, and even then, his control over it was absolutely horrendous. All things considered, Yuta still has tremendous potential and that will continue to grow, but, at the end ofJJK, he was far from being even remotely close to Gojo.
2Yuji Itadori
Yuji is another Sorcerer that Gojo believed would one day reach his level of strength. In fact, it was even clarified that Yuji held the same level of potential as Sukuna. Of course, Yuji will continue to grow, given that he’s incredibly young and will potentially one day go on to reach higher levels.
However, fans won’t get to see that happen because JJK is already over, and at the end of the series, Yuji is far weaker than the likes of Gojo and Sukuna.
1Megumi Fushiguro
Megami Fushiguro, one of the up-and-coming sorcerers, was always believed to be incredibly talented as well. Gojo clearly said that Megumi could one day reach his level of strength as well, but, given that he was cut out from the story in a bizarre manner, he never truly got to fulfill his potential.
In fact, it is absolutely unfathomable that Megumi did not even get to complete his domain. He truly served only as a tool for Sukuna to wreak terror in the final segment of the series, and other than that, his importance was almost negligent.
