This article contains spoilers from Jujutsu Kaisen’s Shinjuku Showdown Arc.
Summary
Yuji Itadori is the protagonist ofJujutsu Kaisenand certainly a monstrously powerful individual. Although Yuji was not all that strong for the vast majority of the series, the last arc, Shinjuku Showdown, saw to it that Yuri received a plethora of power-ups one after the other, which essentially saw him rise to a very high level.
In fact, a case can be made for Yuji for being the strongest sorcerer in the entire world, given that both Sukuna and Gojo are now gone. But, what fans also know is that Yuji is not the finished product yet. Yuji still has a long way to go and has many abilities and techniques that he needs to master if he is to become A legendary sorcerer like his mentor. That said, there is already enough basis to support the idea that Yuji will grow tremendously in terms of strength and become the next Sukuna inJJK.
Yuji’s Great Growth In Shinjuku Showdown
Yuji grew greatly in the Shinjuku showdown Arc ofJujutsu Kaisen. In fact, his growth came in two separate ways. The first way was the training that he underwent right before the Shinjuku showdown. With the body swap technique, as well as direct training under his brother, Choso, Yuji gained mastery in many arts. With the body swap, Kusakabe taught him many powerful abilities, such as barrier techniques and of course, out of them, the most important one was the Simple Domain. Yuji learned this technique and it allowed him to protect himself from Sukuna’s domain expansion, and later down the line, serve as a basis for Yuji creating a domain expansion. That certainly is not all. Yuji also trained under Choso after consuming the death painting number 4 to 9. This gave him access to Blood Manipulation, although his control over it isn’t as good yet.
Did this brat just learn Reverse Cursed Technique? – Sukuna
Still, Yuji could, at the very least, heal more efficiently using blood manipulation, which means that it aided his strength greatly. Yuji could also use powers such as Convergence and Supernova, but these powers required Yuji to seek help from his brother, Choso, to be utilized properly.
Unsurprisingly, this isn’t all that Yuji learned. He also trained with Yuta Okkotsuand improved his general level of strength and efficiency with cursed energy. Yuji also trained with Gojo Satoru, but what exactly he learned from this training isn’t known yet.
Other than the training that Yuji did before Shinjuku Showdown, fans also know that he gained major power-ups in the arc itself. He showed the abilities that he had learned during the timeskip and was incredibly efficient in combat against Sukuna. Against the King of Curses, his latent potential awoke and gave him access to the Shrine cursed technique. As fans know, Shrine is a deadly ability that allows one to slice and dice their targets, and this ability awoke in Yuji as well, although his version of the Shrine was slightly different from that of Sukuna.
Yuji tapped into the magnificent power of domain expansion, and this is how the battle against Sukuna ended. Yuji destroyed him inside his domain and ripped him from Megumi’s body, essentially getting rid of him forever.
How Yuji Can Be The Next Sukuna
Yuji Itadori Has Potential Equal To Sukuna
Yuji Itadori was on a very high level of strength in the Shinjuku showdown. There is no doubt about the fact that Yuji is on the level of a special grade sorcerer right now. He has many incredible abilities, and his instinct in battle is superior to the vast majority that fans have seen in the story.
This must mean Yuji Itadori has potential equal to Sukuna! – Uraume
After all, he is the sorcerer who defeated Sukuna. But, fans should not be conceited. It should be quite clear to all the readers that Yuji Itadori would not have been able to defeat Sukuna on his own. In fact, all the sorcerers would have died terrible deaths had Gojo not drastically weakened Sukuna during his battle against him. Even after that, Sukuna fought many Sorcerers and they kept him busy on many occasions, allowing Yuji to land a couple of his powerful blows. Yuji could have died on many occasions in Shinjuku Showdown, and had Sukuna not been thoroughly nerfed, Yuji would never have won the battle. This is clear for all the fans to see. Right now, Yuji is very strong, but he is not as strong as Sukuna.
However, that is not to say that Yuji can never get as strong as Sukuna. In fact, fans already know that Yuji can become the next Sukuna. When the true connection between Sukuna and Yuji was revealed, it was made clear by Uraume that Yuji had the potential to be just as strong as Sukuna. This is because Yuji is essentially the son of Sukuna’s twin, making Sukuna his uncle of sorts.
The only difference is that Sukuna consumed his twin and he then reincarnated into Jin Itadori. There is a connection between these two individuals that goes beyond time, and this connection, coupled with the fact that Sukuna took residence in Yuji’s body, and, through that, gave him access to his most powerful abilities and deadly movements, results in Yuji becoming one of the mightiest sorcerers of all time. Clearly, Yuji has all the tools that he could need to become as strong as him, and all he needs to do is put in the effort and improve himself drastically.
Yuji’s Strength As An Adult Sorcerer
Yuji Itadori Can Reach Sky-High Levels In JJK
Right now, Yuji is still in high school. However, a few years later, when Yuji does graduate, he’s going to become an incredibly powerful sorcerer. By the time Yuji reaches adulthood, his strength will have reached an entirely new level. Yuji will have improved his physical strength even further, and if that wasn’t enough, he’d have improved his control over cursed energy as well. He would most definitely have improvedhis control over reverse cursed techniqueand boost his efficiency of it even further. On top of that, fans should keep in mind that Yuji will most likely have mastered Blood Manipulation by adulthood, meaning Convergence and all the other techniques that stem through it would come naturally to him. Yuji would also have mastered Shrine, to a level where it could potentially be comparable to Sukuna, especially because Yuji has muscle memory through Sukuna staying inside his body.
His control over his domain would most likely improve as well, andYuji would also learn about their powerful abilities, such as domain amplification and potentially new barrier techniques as well. If Yuji does go on to master all these abilities, then, a case can be made for him being on Sukuna’s level. Still, in a proper 1v1 between these two, Yuji will be the underdog, but at the very least, fans know that he has the potential to be the next Sukuna, even if it is in terms of power only.
