Summary
AKickstreamer known as Dumbdumbjeez has responded to the backlash he faced after walking out of a restaurant without paying during a livestream. His actions caused him to get banned from Kick and for the platform’s co-founder to express his disapproval, too.
Despite how many creators on Kick are often surrounded by controversy, the platform has proven profitable for its top streamers. Recently, it’s been teased thatKick may even start paying its viewers. Considering that streaming can be a good source of income, some creators won’t hesitate to share content in poor taste. Such was the case of streamer Dumbdumbjeez, who took a woman out on a date during an IRL stream, only to dine and dash live. The stunt was an attempt to enter popular Kick streamer Sam Pepper’s contest for $50,000. According to Sam Pepper’s challenge, creators had to go on a date with a stranger while livestreaming. Dumbdumbjeez walked out on his date and the clip went viral, causing his ban from Kick. Many users criticized him on social media, including Kick co-founder Bijan Tehrani.
Since the ban, Dumbdumbjeez has issued a response through avideo posted on Twitter. He stated that his walking out without paying was on purpose and that the woman, allegedly named Mabel, was aware of this plan. “I gave her the money already beforehand,” said Dumbdumbjeez. He continued to say that he had no intention of revealing the stream was scripted until having won Sam Pepper’s challenge. “At the end of the day, it turned out bad,” Dumbdumbjeez admitted, as he was both disqualified from the competition and banned from Kick for three days. Problematic content on streaming platforms usually results in being banned, and Kick creators are no exception. Not long ago,Kick banned Sneako fromits platform, allegedly for his anti-semitic sentiments.
Kick Streamer Banned After Live Dine and Dash
Dumbdumbjeez has lost his chance at the $50,000 offered by Sam Pepper, but the woman he went on a date with could get the money for herself from Kick’s co-founder Bijan Tehrani. Dumbdumbjeez’s dine-and-dash clip reached the Kick executive on Twitter, and he responded by deeming the streamer as pathetic and offering the woman $50,000. Tehrani said he was disappointed this had happened on Kick and asked users for help with finding the lady from the date, who is allegedly homeless. Kick’s co-founders are rather quick to address controversies surrounding the platform. Previously,Kick co-founder Edward Kravenstated that Dr Disrespect would not be joining the platform after his infamous downfall.
Though Dumbdumbjeez’s clip gained a Kick co-founder’s disapproval, Sam Pepper’s streaming challenge has continued with more contestants putting themselves in embarrassing situations. While IRL streaming is quite popular, it can also be dangerous for creators. Earlier this month,Kick streamer Jack Doherty crashed his carwhile livestreaming and was permanently banned.
