One PieceEpisode 1122 is going to be the last canon episode for a very long time, as the anime is going on a hiatus till April 2025. The decision was taken to maintain the quality of the series and likely to give the staff a breather. Naturally, Toei Animation wanted to end things on a high note, so they went all out in episode 1122.
In the last episode, fans saw an injured Garp lying down on his back while Pizarro initiated an attackon the Marines outside Hachinosu. Things were looking very bad for the Marines, as Garp was the only person who was capable of standing up to the Titanic Captains of the Blackbeard Pirates. With the situation growing more tense by the minute, the Marines needed someone to step up and rescue them, and that someone was none other than Koby.
Koby’s Honesty Impact Saves The Marines
Koby Recalls His Intense Training Regime
As a part of the final act, Garp asked Koby, Helmeppo, and Prince Grus to listen to him very closely and follow all the instructions. Koby was given the task of destroying the massive arm of Avalo Pizarro. Prince Grus was told to use his Devil Fruit to stop the debris from falling on the ship. Finally, Helmeppo was assigned the role of protecting the two as they carried out their duties.
Garp started the attack by jumping in the air and using Galaxy Divide to break the massive skull on the island. The sheer force of the strike unsettled Avalo Pizarro, but he was not willing to give up just yet. He decided to use his gigantic arm to wipe out the Naval vessel along with its passengers. Since Garp could not perform another attack, the responsibility fell on Koby’s shoulders.
As the young Marine drew closer to the ship, he began to question his own strength. Koby believed that he might not have enough power to destroy the gigantic arm. It was at this time that Koby recalled his intense training sessions in which he used to punch the battleship bags. Koby knew that he was way behind the others, so he needed to train much more than them. With his newfound motivation, Koby channeled Haki through his fist and landed a devastating attack on Pizarro’s arm, breaking it into hundreds of smaller pieces. However, the job was far from over. Prince Grus arrived at the right time andused his Gunyo Gunyo no Mi to stopthe debris from crushing the ship.
Once the danger had passed, the three young Marines could finally breathe a sigh of relief. However, they were in for a big shock as Monkey D. Garp was captured by Kuzan. Koby and all the other Marines were devastated, and they wanted to go back and rescue the Vice Admiral. But Garp reminded them that they are the future of the Navy and they must press forward.
What Will Happen To Monkey D. Garp
In the final moments, fanscould see Monkey D. Garp laughingwhile being frozen by Kuzan. This effectively confirmed that the Vice Admiral would not be joining the young Marines in their escape from Hachinosu. Needless to say, this incident will send shock waves throughout the world.
The Blackbeard Pirates will benefit the most from capturing Garp. Blackbeard planned to make a trade with the World Government, but the organization would have ignored his demands. One, because Koby was not important enough, and second, he was a member of SWORD. It has already been revealed that the Marines have no obligation to rescue members of SWORD. Both things made Koby a terrible bargaining chip.
Things will be different now that Blackbeard has Garp as a prisoner. The latter is the biggest hero of the Marines, and he is a paragon of justice. If civilians were to learn that the World Government abandoned Garp, it would cause unrest everywhere. This reason alone is enough to force the World Government to accept Blackbeard’s demands for creating a new country.
Will Koby And Grus Rescue Garp?
In Episode 1122, it was clear that Koby held himself responsible for what happened to Garp. He was the one who walked into a trap set by the pirates and Garp to put his body on the line to rescue him, which left him with a massive wound in his abdomen. If Garp hadn’t suffered a serious injury, chances are that he would have left Hachinosu with his students.
The only way for Koby and the other Marinesto rescue Garp is to plead withthe higher-ups within the organization. There is a good chance that Sakazuki will turn them down, but there are other individuals who will try to help Koby. One of the first names that comes to mind is that of Sengoku. The former Fleet Admiral is rather close to Garp, and he would not hesitate to rescue his friend from the clutches of the Blackbeard Pirates. Tsuru is another individual who is on great terms with Garp, so she might also join the rescue team. If Koby recruits the two legends, he will have abetter chance of rescuing his mentor.
