On November 14th, PlayStation 5, PC, and Nintendo Switch players alike will be able to embark through a LEGO version of the post-apocalyptic Western United States with the release ofLEGO Horizon Adventures. A more family-friendly iteration ofHorizon Zero Dawn,Adventuressees Aloy once again embark on a journey of self-discovery and heroism as she attempts to save the world from being destroyed by revived war machines. This time Aloy won’t go alone, asAdventuresallows one other player to join her as Varl, Erend, and Teersa in local or online co-op. While multiple items and outfits can be unlocked throughoutLEGO Horizon Adventuresor by purchasing the Digital Deluxe Edition, a few can only be acquired by pre-ordering the game.
LEGO Horizon Adventures’ Cosmetic Bonuses
Unlike previous LEGO games produced by TT Games,LEGO Horizon Adventuresallows each playable character to change their outfit instead of having to switch characters entirely, such asLEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga’s Finn(Episode 9) and Finn (Kijimi Coat). Several early trailers forAdventuresshowcased Aloy and Varl being able to seamlessly change from their normal outfits into a carrot or astronaut outfit. Players will be able to unlock various outfits throughout the game, but a few can only be accessed by pre-ordering the game and purchasing the Digital Deluxe Edition. These include the “Alloy” Aloy Outfit, Banuk Armor Outfit, Ratchet Outfit, Rivet Outfit, Sackboy Outfit, Shadow Stalwart Outfit, and Shield-Weaver Outfit.
A few of theseoutfits are based on some of PlayStation’s more family-friendly icons. The Ratchet and Rivet Outfits are based on the titular lombax Ratchet from theRatchet & Clankseries and the alternate dimensional lombax Rivet fromRatchet & Clank: Rift Apart. Meanwhile, the Sackboy Outfit is based on the Sackperson protagonist from theLittleBigPlanetseries and the self-titledSackboy: A Big Adventuregame. Each ofLEGO Horizon Adventures’ playable characters can wear the Ratchet, Rivet, and Sackboy Outfits. Meanwhile, the “Alloy” Aloy Outfit is an original metallic coated version of Aloy’s base Nora outfit which appears to act like a classic robot with quick, stiff movements instead of the more agile and energetic movements of other characters.
LEGO Horizon Adventures’ Horizon Zero Dawn Outfits
Most of these outfits are based on some of the mostpopular outfits found inHorizon Zero Dawn. While these outfits can only be acquired by pre-order or purchasing the Digital Deluxe Edition, most of these outfits won’t be accessible from the get-go and will require a bit of in-game progression inLEGO Horizon Adventures. The Shadow Stalwart Outfit is based on the Shadow Stalwart Heavy outfit which is given to Aloy by Sylens after completing The Terror of the Sun quest. The Banuk Armor Outfit is based on the Banuk Ice Hunter Heavy outfit, which can only be purchased by merchants in The Frozen Wilds DLC. Finally, there’s the pre-order bonus of the Shield-Weaver Outfit.
LEGO Horizon Adventures’ Shield-Weaver Outfit
Otherwise known as the UltraWeave Mk7.1, the Shield-Weaver Outfit is based on theHorizon Zero Dawnoutfit of the same name found by collecting five Power Cells throughout the game andcompleting the Ancient Armory quest. Shield-Weaver isZero Dawn’s most powerful outfit as it is equipped with a rechargeable energy shield and prevents Aloy from being staggered by ranged attacks when charged. However, the outfit’s shield does come at a cost, as players can’t customize this outfit’s perks with modification slots. This outfit’s shields are not all-powerful as they can be depleted by heavy or barrage attacks, which will leave Aloy vulnerable with her base health.
Sincethe Shield-Weaver Outfitis locked behind a pre-order bonus, Guerrilla Games and Studio Gobo may have decided to exclude the Power Cells or the Ancient Armory Quest inAdventures. This choice to restrict the outfit as a pre-order bonus may have been a gameplay decision, as none of the other outfits inAdventuresappear to provide any perks and the Shield-Weaver’s shield may have proved too overpowered for the LEGO game. It may have been a balancing decision as well, since none of the other playable characters had access to shield-generating equipment before. It’s currently unknown ifLEGO Horizon Adventures’ Shield-Weaver will still be equipped with the titular rechargeable shield or not.
The Shield-Weaver outfit returned inHorizon Forbidden Westas Aloy’s base Nora Anointed outfit but without its power source, negating its shield-generating ability.
