Hemsworth talked aboutThe WitcherSeason 4when he appeared onLive with Kelly And Markon September 30. He admitted that he hadn’t watched Cavill’s show before he took over his role in the series. However, he was somewhat knowledgeable about the character because he played the game. “I hadn’t seen the TV show. And I hadn’t read the books. But I played the video game like 10 years ago or something,” Hemsworth told the hosts. “And it’s still to this day one of the best video games of all time. And Netflix came to me almost two years ago now and said that they wanted me to just step in and take over and I was really excited by taking on that character because I was a fan of the video game. But I said, you know, let me watch the TV show and have a look at the books and really get stuck into it.”

When asked if he still played the video game, Hemsworth said he had returned to it a few times to remember some critical details. However, he appeared not much into it lately because the game takes so much time. According to him, players have to put in hours of their time when playingThe Witcher. Cavill endorsed Hemsworth as the next Geralt of Rivia when he announced his exit from the show on social media. “My journey as Geralt of Rivia has been filled with both monsters and adventures, and alas, I will be laying down my medallion and my swords for Season 4,” Cavill wrote onInstagram. “In my stead, the fantastic Mr Liam Hemsworth will be taking up the mantle of the White Wolf.” In his post, Cavill included a personal message for Hemsworth to share his enthusiasm when he portrayed the well-loved character. “Liam, good sir, this character has such a wonderful depth to him, enjoy diving in and seeing what you can find,” Cavill added.

Cavill’s exit fromThe Witcherreceived mixed responses, with many expressing their sadness to see him go because, for them, he was irreplaceable as Geralt of Rivia. Yes, Cavill was perfect for the role, and he portrayed the character well in the first three seasons, so there are high expectations from Hemsworth. It looked like theLonely Planetactor had come prepared because he eventually watched the series and read the book. Hemsworth also had a similar appeal as Cavill whenNetflix unveiled his first look as Geralt. In a split second, one could think they were still seeing Cavill. Hemsworth taking over the role from Cavill will definitely be a challenge, mainly because the latter has solid supporters who believe he is born for it and no other actor can pull it off. But Hemsworth is a versatile talent and this is his chance to prove it and convince others that he can also be an excellent Geralt of Rivia.

The WitcherSeason 4 is expected to premiere on Netflix in 2025.
