Summary

AMinecraftplayer has turned a room full of Phantoms that was a problem into a farm to earn experience in. Phantoms were introduced toMinecraftafter a Mob Vote in 2017, and this player found a way to farm them in the Nether.

Mojang continues tointroduce new mobs toMinecraft, with the latest one featured in the Snapshot build of the game being the Creaking. The Creaking resides in an upcoming biome called the Pale Garden which is still being fleshed out by the developer. Out of the many mobs inMinecraft, some players have the most problems with Phantoms. Phantoms spawn at night after a player hasn’t died or slept for three or more in-game days. Because it’s hard for gamers to keep track of in-game days when they’re underground, some emerge from a mine just to be knocked off a ledge and killed by a Phantom. One clever player is clearly aware of how dangerous the mob can be, as they were careful enough to turn their Phantom problem into a farm by slightly changing their approach to the mob.

Reddit user ADAMM_97 recently shared two clips highlighting theirMinecraftPhantom problem, which they turned into a farm. In one clip, the player highlights that theirMinecraftNether Portal, which is set up in a living quarters, leads to a tunnel full of Phantoms. The player is initially killed by the overwhelming number of flying mobs in the tight space, which target them immediately as they emerge from the portal. The second clip shows the gamer entering the same tunnel while wielding an enchanted sword. Most of the Phantoms cling to the tunnel ceiling as the player attacks them, while others are defeated and drop XP orbs.

This Minecraft Player Created a Phantom Mob Farm

Minecraftmob farms typically involve players fencing certain mobs into tight spaces, with water funneling XP orbs and materials into nearby chests. These farms can include Lava that automates the process a little more, while others task the players with killing the mobs themselves. Many gamers also createMinecraftfarms for materials like Bamboo, Sugar Cane, Eggs, and more. As ADAMM_97 hasn’t shared how they created the Phantom farm beyond a lack of sleep, it’s unclear how others could make their own version of it. Though Phantoms are typically known for patrolling the Overworld skies, this farm highlights that they can also enter the Nether.

AsMojang continues to updateMinecraft, the Nether Portal may stop allowing mobs like the Phantoms to go through. This farm is one of many examples ofMinecraftfans turning a negative experience into a positive one with a small adjustment to their play style.
