Who is Ashido Mina?
With An Infectious and Cheerful Personality, Mina Cares for Her Classmates and Friends
Ashido Mina is a Hero Course student atUA High Schooland is placed in Class 1-A alongside Midoriya Izuku and Bakugo Katsuki. Mina has a cheerful and playful personality and features pink skin, two yellow horns with black sclera, and yellow irises. Due to her pink skin, a product ofher Acid Quirk, Mina chose the Hero name Pinky.
Mina has always been cheerful and easy to talk to. During her middle school days alongside Kirishima Eijiro, she easily made friends with bullies and quickly resolved any conflict that could arise. Although Mina has a cheerful personality, she also has a brave heart, one of the features that madeKirishima Eijiro find his resolve.
During middle school, Mina and her friend had a chance encounter with a large Gigantomachia. At the time, Gigantomachia’s identity was a mystery, making Mina and her friends believe he was a large and intimidating criminal. It was at this point that Mina showcased her bravery to save her friends, that she could put her life on the line to save her friends.
This helped her grow and made her the Hero she became during the Final War. Although, at times, Mina would define herself as weak, the support she receives from her friends gives her the ability to push herself and be a better Hero.
What is the source of Mina’s strength?
Mina is Aware of Her Weakness, But That is What Pushes Her to Do Her Best
As mentioned above, Ashido Mina has always been brave and willing toput her life on the linefor others. It should also be noted that although Mina is brave, she’s not afraid to admit that she’s scared. Although she is terrified of battle or of what is to come, she uses this fear to push herself and give her strength.

During theParanormal Liberation War arc, Mina was confronted with one of her worst fears, Gigantomachia. AsMount Ladymentioned, Gigantomachia represents the wounds in people’s hearts or psychological terror. Mina was frozen in fear both times when she encountered Gigantomachia.
Mina has the type of personality that allows her to push through any situation as long as she can protect others; it is this bravery and courage that gives her strength. It was based on these previous interactions and Mina’s feeling responsible for the deaths of others that gave her the strength to fight back against this behemoth.
It was also during the Paranormal Liberation War thatMidnight, a teacher at UA High School, died after being ambushed by one of the League of Villain members. Midnight’s death deeply affected Mina to the point that when she learned who killed Midnight during the Final War, she grew angry.
It was Mina’s inability to protect others that motivated her to continue developing her Quirk with the assistance of Bakugo and Todoroki Shoto. Thanks to her persistence, Mina developed a solution strong enough to eat through Gigantomachia’s hide with her Acid Quirk during the Final War.
Mina also believes in settling the score with others to whom she owes a debt. This might be why shepushed the limits of her Quirk during the Final War. Here, Mina had to face Gigantomachia, a terror from her past and the person who killed Midnight, her beloved teacher at UA High School.
In doing so, Mina was able to confront Machia, creating a powerful solvent strong enough to pierce through his hide. She also confronted the man who killed Midnight, all while saving Kirishima, Mount Lady, and Hitoshi Shinso. To further broach this topic, in Chapter 383, Mina states to Kirishima that they are “finally even” after he saved her from Gigantomachia, indicating that she wants to prove her strength to others and be reliable.
Unfortunately, although Mina was able to use Acidman: Alma, one of her strongest attacks, overusing her Quirk can dehydrate and damage her skin, as the maximum output of her acidity can also be corrosive to her. Overall, the source of Mina’s strength is the ability to push herself to protect her friends; even though she’s scared and weak, she will do everything in her power to protect the ones she cares about.
