The second chapter in the story ofNevatakes place as Fall arrives. Neva isn’t a pup any longer and can hold her own against the dark forces. She fights alongside you, holding down foes when things get overwhelming. On top of that, she also heals you back to full after each combat encounter.
Chapter 2 ofNevais much longer than Chapter 1 and is split into different parts. Each part has its own secrets and achievements for players to uncover, much like thefeeding locations in the last chapter. In this guide, we’ll lay out the location of each corpse that you’ll need to find to unlock theEmpathy achievement/trophy inNeva.
How to Unlock Empathy Achievement/Trophy in Neva
In part 2 of chapter 2, you’ll come across corpses of animals that your enemies can possess to fight you. After defeating them, Neva will sit down in front of these corpses. You can then interact with her, and she will purify the body. To unlock the Empathy achievement, you mustpurify all seven corrupted corpses in the chapter.
Here are the locations for each of these corpses in Neva:
Purify Corpse #1
Start heading right after waking up with Neva at your side. You’ll notice that the forest isn’t the same anymore. As you progress, you’ll see an injured boar limping towards you and falling down after a few steps. You’ll also encounter crawling enemies, but they shouldn’t be too tough for you to handle at this point.
Alternatively, you can go left from the starting point first to pick up aHidden Flower for Chapter 2.
Soon, you’ll have your first encounter with a corpse. You’ll run into an opening with the dead body of a boar. A crawling monster will possess it, and the reanimated boar will start charging towards you. To evade the attack, simply jump and dodge through the charge. After two charges, the boar will fall, and you can attack the monster. It takes three hits to kill the monster possessing the boar.
After that, Neva will sit in front of the motionless boar. Pet her to purify the corpse.
Purify Corpse #2
Keep progressing through the chapter, jumping over platforms through the foggy forest. At one point, you’ll arrive at an arena with another body of a dead boar. As soon as you enter the arena, crawling monsters will start appearing. You’ll need to kill all the monsters.
If they manage to get near the boar, they will possess it, and you’ll have to dodge the boar’s attack in addition to all the enemies.
After killing all the enemies, pet Neva near the dead boar to purify it.
Purify Corpse #3
The third corpse comes a bit later as you play through the level. At one point, you’ll have to climb up to a cliff using the climbable white flowers. You’ll know you’ve come to the right place if you see the bodies of dead cranes all around you. When you reach the middle of the area, the cranes will come to life and take flight. They’ll divebomb towards you and fall to the ground, exposing the monster hidden inside.
Dodge their dive attacks and kill the monsters inside both cranes. There will be more crawling monsters that you can kill before they reach the cranes. Once you finish the combat sequence, pet Neva to purify the corpse.
Purify Corpse #4
After purifying crane corpses, you’ll find yourself crossing over the branches of a floating tree. When you reach the end, the tree breaks, and you’ll be dropped into a boss arena with a dead boar. Crawling monsters will start attacking you. After fighting them for a while, they’ll possess the boar’s corpse, and the boss fight will begin.
The idea is the same as before. Dodge through the charge and start hitting the monsters after they are exposed. But this time, the boar will leave a damaging trail of thorns behind while charging. You’ll have to double-jump and dodge through the charge to avoid getting hit.
After killing all the monsters possessing the boar, pet Neva near it to purify the corpse.
Purify Corpse #5
After the Boar fight, you’ll unlock the ability to tackle with Neva. Start heading right, solving puzzles with your newfound ability. After a while, you’ll reach another cliff and find two dead cranes. You can stop the crawling monsters before they reach the bodies or defeat the possessed cranes afterward. Pet Neva after the fight to purify the corpse.
Purify Corpse #6
After the fight, you must go through a few more platforming sections. Shortly after, you’ll arrive at an arena. Complete the combat sequence and purify the bodies by petting Neva.
Purify Corpse #7
The final corpse comes near the end of the chapter. Keep progressing through the sections as normal, and at one point, you’ll have to climb up to a cliff through the fog. Head right, and you’ll come face to face with a giant Bison boss.
It will slowly walk towards you, but you may see the exposed monsters near the top of the bison. Use tackle with Neva on the exposed monsters while moving backward. You’ll also have to fight the monsters spawning on the ground with your sword. Once you tackle all the monsters possessing the bison, the fight ends.
Pet your spirit wolf near the corpse after defeating the boss to unlock the Empathy achievement inNeva.
