Summary
Some new data from credible sources shows thatGrand Theft Auto Online’srecently added Ludendorff Cemetery Survival game mode has been exceptionally popular with players. The reported turnout of hundreds of thousands ofGTA Onlineplayers for the new zombie survival mode isn’t all that surprising considering fans have long been requesting a return to North Yankton, the starting area ofGrand Theft Auto 5’s story mode.
Beyond the opening sequence, the snowy town of North Yankton is only featured one more time inGTA 5’s Bury the Hatchet story mission, where Michael follows Trevor to the Ludendorff Cemetery and is then kidnapped by Triad members after a shootout. There’s no way to access North Yankton legitimately otherwise, which disappointed many fans who wanted to explore the interesting area. Some players did figure out ways toglitch themselves into North Yankton inGTA Online, but these methods didn’t work reliably.
Naturally, then, Rockstar’s announcement ofGTA Online’s latest Halloween-themed survival mode featuring North Yanktondrove excitement among fans through the roof. The Ludendorff Cemetery Survival mode launched on October 10, and some recentdata from GTAO Statsreveals thatover 400,000GTA Onlineplayerstried out the new mode in its first 24 hours. Three full days later, this number has soared past 1.3 million players, making Ludendorff Cemetery Survival one of the most playedGTA Onlinemodes ever.

Prominent Rockstar Games insider Tez2 provided further context on Ludendorff Cemetery Survival’s popularity in a recent tweet, noting that the Halloween mode debuted with 270% more players compared to the last newGTA Onlinemode, Assault on ATT-16. It’s worth noting that Assault on ATT-16’s debut didn’t take place at a very opportune time, as Rockstar simultaneouslyremoved a lot ofGTA Onlinecontentwhen the mode arrived, angering several fans and drawing attention away from it.
