Summary

Michael Gamble, the project leader behind the nextMass Effectgame, recently reassured concerned fans that the next game will retain the photorealistic art style found in previous entries in contrast toDragon Age: The Veilguard. Way back in 2020, BioWare confirmed that the dormantMass Effectseries would return with a new mainline entry. Not much is known about the sequel as of this writing, save that it will be set after the events of the original trilogy and feature Shepard’s popular Asari squadmate, Liara T’Soni.

While the gaming world waits for the nextMass Effect, BioWare is revisiting another of their hit RPG franchises withDragon Age: The Veilguard, which is set to launch on October 31. So far,Dragon Age: The Veilguardis being praisedfor its plot and character interactions, but there are still a few areas that are seeing a mixed reaction as the game nears its release. One of these isDragon Age: The Veilguard’s art style, which is seen as more colorful and cartoon-like than the aesthetic found in past installments.

mass effect

Michael Gamble recently addressed theimpending launch ofDragon Age: The Veilguardon Twitter, stating that while it and the newMass Effectgame he is working on are from the same studio, they are still separate projects with their own unique approaches. In response to this, Twitter user ReaLitY_Siege asked Gamble not to “Pixar”Mass Effectlike BioWare supposedly did withDragon Age: The Veilguard. Gamble replied by saying that he might not agree with this apparent criticism, but hisMass Effectproject will maintain a photorealistic art style.

Next Mass Effect Won’t Have Dragon Age: The Veilguard’s “Pixar-like” Art Style

In another post in the same Twitter thread, Gamble stated that the nextMass Effectgame will also retain the mature tone ofthe originalMass Effecttrilogy, though he naturally remained tight-lipped on the details. As mentioned before, very little is known about the nextMass Effectgame’s story at the moment, and the branching narrative of the previous games raises plenty of questions about the state of the Milky Way galaxy following 2012’sMass Effect 3.

Dragon Age: The Veilguardis handling past continuity by narrowing the player’s role in the backstory down to three basic choices, and fans are already theorizing that BioWare will take asimilar approach in the newMass Effect. In fact,Dragon Age: The Veilguardcould provide a preview for many aspects of the nextMass Effect, but it seems like the art direction isn’t one of them. BioWare fans will get to check outDragon Age: The Veilguardthemselves on October 31 to find out if the style is to their liking.
