Spotted byDexertoin Jason Schreier’s book,Play Nice: The Rise, Fall, and Future Of Blizzard Entertainment, Blizzard is working onOverwatch Mobile. This book goes into the inner workings of Blizzard with knowledge accumulated from 350 interviews with current and former employees. According to Schreier,OverwatchGeneral Manager Walter Kong is overseeing the development ofOverwatch Mobile. Kong also continues to greenlightchanges toOverwatch 2, including new heroes and content. It’s unclear ifOverwatch Mobilewill be a mobile port ofOverwatchor its sequel, or an entirely new experience designed for the platform. AsOverwatch Mobileallegedly remains in active development, it could still be a while before it’s released.

Blizzard May Be Working on Overwatch Mobile

Similar to other entries in the series,Overwatch Mobilecould see a reveal at a future BlizzCon.Overwatchwas unveiled at BlizzCon 2014, and it was released less than two years later,whileOverwatch 2was revealed at BlizzCon 2019, nearly three years before its launch. AsOverwatch Mobilehas been speculated on for years, it may be further in development than fans expect. This could mean that the game might be shadow-dropped after an announcement. Alternatively,Overwatchand its sequel were beta-tested ahead of release, so fans of the series may be able to tryOverwatch Mobileahead of time.

With Activision having a prominent presence in the mobile landscape withCall of Duty,Diablo, andHearthstonealready represented, the addition ofOverwatchmay further improve its statistics. Given that it hasn’t been officially confirmed or revealed by Blizzard yet,Overwatch Mobilecould change in scope before it’s shown off.
