In a new post on The Silph Road subreddit, user republicanshatejazz shares an interesting aspect about the Galar Cup: Great League Edition. The user notes that Galarian Moltres is not allowed in Galarian Cup: Great League Edition, which is an anomaly considering that it is from the Galar Pokedex. Some fans noted that other Pokemon likeGalarian Slowpoke inPokemon GOare missing as well, which means that players can’t use Pokemon from the Expansion Pass altogether. Initially, some fans thought that it was a glitch and only Galarian forms were bugged, but other players confirmed that all DLC Pokemon are ineligible.
Pokemon GO Fans Unhappy Over Galar Cup Missing DLC Pokemon
Many are unhappy with this approach by Niantic, as they believe it is quite strange that an event focused on the Galar region allows only a subset of the Pokemon available in that particular Pokedex. Additionally, some even noted that it doesn’t make sense to have another event solely focused on theIsle of ArmororCrown TundraPokedex, and it would have been much better to include them as part of the Galar Cup itself. On the other hand, a few players noted that since the event description explicitly states that it will only allow Pokemon fromPokemon Sword and ShieldPokedexand doesn’t mention the DLCs, the behavior is quite justified.
The absence of the DLC Pokemon affects the meta significantly in the Galar Cup: Great League Edition. For instance, when it comes to theGalarian Birds inPokemon GO, while Zapdos and Articuno might not be a great option for Great League, Moltres is an incredibly strong Pokemon that is a core part of the meta. However, there were not a lot of new Pokemon added in the DLCs, so players are definitely not missing out on much.
