There are three factions inNew World: Aeternum: the Covenant, the Marauders, and the Syndicate. While players cannot join these factions immediately upon starting the game, they will be able to pursue them after putting a bit of time toward increasing their level. For those fans who would like more information about this process of joining a faction inNew World: Aeternum, and for those who are simply unsure about which one to pick, this guide is here to help.
It is highly recommended that players join a faction as soon as it is possible for them to do so, as there are a variety of benefits associated with becoming a member.
New World Aeternum: How to Join a Faction
The first step toward joining afaction inNew World: Aeternumis reachingLevel 17. Upon hitting that milestone, players will find that three icons have appeared on the mapnear the Oxboro Hamlet Settlement in southwest Everfall. Those icons, which are orange, green, and purple, mark NPCs that initiate questlines, and those questlines ultimately lead to joining the associated faction.
The orange icon represents the Covenant faction, the green icon represents the Marauders faction, and the purple icon represents the Syndicate faction.
New World Aeternum: Which Faction Should You Choose?
While joining a faction inNew World: Aeternumis a fairly straightforward process, players may be unclear about how to decide which one they should pursue. ForMMORPGfans who are indeed struggling to choose between factions, here are several factors to consider:
While players are encouraged to spend some time thinking about which faction they will join initially, they should know that it is possible to change factions once every 30 days. To perform that action, fans should complete the other faction’s introductory questline, navigate to the Bio tab within the Character menu, and click “Change Faction” in the bottom-left corner.
Faction Influence
Players who are trying to pick a faction may want to begin by opening the in-game map, clicking on “Filters” on the left side of the screen, and activating the “Faction Influence” filter at the bottom of the menu. This will cause the Territories to become the color that is representative of the faction that is controlling them. As examples, a Territory that is controlled byNew World: Aeternum’s Marauderswill be green, while a Territory that is controlled by the Syndicate will be purple.
While control of a Territory is certainly not fixed, and will continually change as players PvP, fans can use the Faction Influence filter to get a rough understanding of their server’s factions populations. For instance, if the map was entirely orange, that might indicate that much of theserver has opted to joinNew World: Aeternum’s Covenantfaction.
With respect to what players can do with this information, there are a couple of approaches to consider. The first is simply to pursue the faction that controls the majority of the map, as being aligned with the dominant faction may make it easier to consistently find groups for PvP. Alternatively, if a player is more interested in trying to take over controlled Territories, they might instead want to go with theirNew World: Aeternumserver’s least-represented faction.
Forts
Many of theTerritories inNew World: Aeternumhave Forts, which are marked on the in-game map with yellow building icons. As is the case with Territories, factions can take control of Forts, and members will receive Territory and Global bonuses for every Fort that their faction controls. This provides some incentive to join the server’s dominant faction, as a well-represented faction is more likely to control Forts than one with only a few members.
As such, players who are trying to choose a faction may want to spend some time hovering over the various Forts on the in-game map. Performing this action will give fans an understanding of which factions are controlling Forts, and provide information about the types of bonuses the Forts award, and that can be used to inform their faction selection.
Equipment
One of the benefits of joining a faction is gaining access to its armory, which contains equipment and items that are useful at almost every stage of the game. While all three factions offer gear that is almost identical from a stat perspective, the equipment does differ in appearance. As such, aNew World: Aeternumplayercould choose a faction based on which gear they think looks the best, though doing so is not recommended.
It is also worth noting that each faction’s armory has an exclusive piece of equipment that improves a certain branch of crafting. More specifically, the Covenant has chestwear that grants +10% chance to craft additional items while Cooking, the Marauders have gloves that grant +5 Weaponsmith Crafted Item Quality, andNew World: Aeternum’s Syndicatehas headwear that grants +5 Arcanist Crafted Item Quality. That said, these gear pieces are quite expensive, and it is once again not recommended that players use them to inform their faction selection.
Friends & Companies
While it may go without saying, players should definitely keep the factions of their friends in mind when selecting one, especially if they want to participate in open-world PvP with them. Additionally, fans who want to join aCompany inNew World: Aeternumwill need to be aligned with the group’s faction.
