Amazon Games has rolled out a small update for the PC version of its popular MMORPGNew World: Aeternumthat addresses a critical issue many players have been experiencing in recent days. Several problems popped up inNew Worldafter the game launched on modern consoles and received a major update.
On October 22,New Worldreceived update 1.1.0, a massive content drop that brought back the Halloween-themed Nightveil Hallow event and delivered several bug fixes.New Worldplayers started to report crashing issuesfollowing this release, however, prompting an investigation from the game’s developer and publisher, Amazon Games. Fortunately, a 1.1.1 patch was pushed out on October 24 that fixed two issues causing crashes or freezes during certain situations. Amazon Games has dropped an additional hotfix forNew Worldon PC since then that promises to fix another similar problem.
According toNew World’s official status provider on Twitter, an update for the game’s PC version fixes a high-frequency crash that appears during loading screen transitions, an issue that was commonly reported by players after the 1.1.1 build went live. At the time of writing, this particular patch has not been posted onNew World’s English website or on the game’s Steam page. The MMO’s official status provider has not mentioned a console release for the latest update.
New World’s ongoing Season of Opportunitywent live on October 15, coinciding with the title’s long-awaited launch on the Sony PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. It marked the game’s rebranding toNew World: Aeternumtoo. Amazon Games' MMORPG, which was supposed to have a free-to-play system like many modern live service experiences, was initially released on the PC in September 2021. The latestNew Worldseason features a new PvP zone, The Cursed Mists, and The Hive of Gorgons, the game’s first 10-player raid, among other things.
In addition to addressing crashing issues, update 1.1.1 forNew Worldfixed bugs related to the NPCs Galahad and Jin Jae, as well as the enemies Mahantaram and Prince Liang. It also dealt with an issue that affected services forNew World’s Transmog system.
New Worldwas able to attract more than 61,000 concurrent players on Steam following Season of Opportunity’s launch. The title, considered by many to be one of thebest MMOs on the market in terms of exploration, saw a peak of 913,000 active players on the Valve-owned platform around the time it initially released in 2021.New World: Aeternumhas a Mixed overall rating on Steam based on more than 242,000 reviews.
