Summary

A luckyNo Man’s Skyfan had their game-breaking bug prioritized and promptly fixed by Hello Games after one of the developers learned that the player had invested 611 hours into the space exploration title. WhileNo Man’s Skyhas come a long way, there’s always room for improvement, and this marks another example of just how dedicated Hello Games is to polishing the now-popular title.

After failing to meet expectations withNo Man’s Sky’s original launch, Hello Games has continued to add missing features to the game while addressing technical issues and bugs. Over the years,No Man’s Skyhas regularly received updatesadding tons of new content for players to enjoy. Hello Games even has a dedicated page on Zendesk where any player can report a bug or leave a suggestion. As it turns out, one of the submissions left on the platform led to an incredible showing from the development team.

As revealed by Martin Griffiths on Twitter, Hello Games recently received a request to fix an annoying and, to some extent, game-breaking visualbug that occurred inNo Man’s Sky. The player who reported the bug had invested 611 hours into the game, and as a programmer, Griffiths felt obligated to prioritize the situation because of the fan’s dedication, mentioning that the player deserved extra attention after spending so much time in the exploration title. It seems that the more hoursNo Man’s Skyplayers invest, the more likely it is that the team will take quick action. The record playtime to date, according to Griffiths, was over 4,000 hours.

No Man’s Sky Player Gets a Bug Fixed by Devs Thanks to Hefty Amount of Playtime

Griffiths also uploaded two videos, with one showing the initial buggy flickering and the other featuring the same location after the fix. TheNo Man’s Sky’s engine programmer believes the issue may have been caused by hitting the object limit. Indeed, the player’s base in the video does look quite extensive, with numerous objects being rendered simultaneously. Griffiths hopes this fix will help other players who may have encountered a similar flickering problem or were on the verge of hitting the object limit. Luckily, not all bugs in the game impact the experience this negatively. One much less serious incident caused aplayer’s exocraft vehicle to become squished, which didn’t impact gameplay but looked rather hilarious.

The story’s happy ending is a remarkable example of Hello Games’ dedication. It vividly demonstrates how, with proper support, even thedisastrous launch ofNo Man’s Skywasn’t enough to prevent the game from becoming one of the most successful and beloved titles on the market today. Over time,No Man’s Skywill only be remembered for its excellent post-launch support rather than its turbulent initial release.
