Summary

It’s been confirmed thatLittleBigPlanet 3is being delisted on October 31.LittleBigPlanetwas, at one point in time, a major franchise for Sony. The originalLittleBigPlanetwas a huge hit on the PS3, andLittleBigPlanet 2earned a great deal of praise as well.LittleBigPlanet 3wasn’t quite as popular, but was the only main series game released for the PS4.

For those who may be unfamiliar with the games, theLittleBigPlanetgames are co-op platformers. Each game features a developer-made campaign for players to complete, but what really gave the games value was their user-generated content. TheLittleBigPlanetgames give players the tools to build entire games of their own. Some truly incredible creations have been made byLittleBigPlanetfans over the years, but that has all been lost to the void.

LittleBigPlanet 3’s online servers were taken downearlier this year, meaning players lost access to millions of user-generated levels. This was absolutely devastating for theLittleBigPlanetcommunity, as the servers for the older games were closed a few years prior. Now there is even more bad news to share as it’s been confirmed thatLittleBigPlanet 3is being delisted on October 31, along with all its DLC. When this happens, it will be significantly harder for potential new players to discoverLittleBigPlanet 3, though anyone that owns the game and its DLC will still be able to re-download the content.

When is LittleBigPlanet 3 Being Delisted?

Some fans have voiced their concern about the free PS Plus version ofLittleBigPlanet 3that was given away in 2017. Luckily, it’s been confirmed that anyone thatclaimedLittleBigPlanet 3through PS Pluswill retain access to the game after the October 31 delisting date as well. Still, it’s likely little consolation toLittleBigPlanetfans who have been hit with one disappointing announcement after another these past few years.

For some time, it looked like Sackboy was poised to become a mascot for PlayStation, but that time seems to have passed. Sony has not done much with theLittleBigPlanetIP of late, with the last notable game dropping in 2020. At that time, Sumo Digital releasedSackboy: A Big Adventure, a 3D platformer take on the series that ditched its creation elements. In 2023,Sony releasedUltimate Sackboy, an endless runner mobile game, but that also does not scratch the same itch as the coreLittleBigPlanettitles.

Hopefully,LittleBigPlanetcan make a comeback one day and fans can recreate their favorite user-generated levels from the older titles. As it stands, we have no idea what originalLittleBigPlanetdeveloper Media Molecule is working on, so maybe aLittleBigPlanet 4is a possibility. With theLittleBigPlanetgames' servers shut downandLittleBigPlanet 3being delisted, now seems like the perfect time to releaseLittleBigPlanet 4, but fans should definitely keep their expectations in check.
