This article contains spoilers from One Piece’s Elbaf Arc.
Summary
One Piecehas markeda brilliant start to the Elbaf Arc, and fans are incredibly excited to see what direction Oda takes in this story arc. Elbaf is an arc that fans I’ve been waiting ages for. In fact, it is an arc that was set up in the story before even Wano was hinted at, and in many ways, this arc could potentially be even bigger. This might just be the biggest Arc inOne Piece, which means that Oda will introduce some of the most important characters here, and have others who have already been introduced in the story, such as Shanks, play a very important role.
Of course, when it comes to the newly introduced characters, those from Elbaf are likely to be inspired by Norse mythology. Fans know for a fact that the Elbaf takes root deep in Norse mythology, and the many gods that fans know exist, such as Loki, will make an appearance in this story arc at some point. Recently, Oda introduced one such God to the fans, and this sets up even better things to come in the future ofOne Piece.
The Sun God Who Was Revealed In The Elbaf Arc
While Elbaf has many godly inspired characters, such as Loki, none of them have actually been confirmed to be gods. Loki is simply a giant that exists in Elbaf, and he is a prince of the Kingdom. Fans do not know if Loki actually holds a godly position or is even called a God. That depends on what Oda wants to do with the story, and how he will describe the culture of Elbaf to be. Perhaps, in the Land of Elbaf, people hold important positions with the title of God, similar to Skypiea. Perhaps that is not the case, and Loki, among other Giants who are inspired by Gods, is simply a normal Giants with a lot of power. Fans do not know much about that yet.
We must report this incident to the Sun God immediately!
But, there is an exception. In Elbaf, there is a certain God that is worshiped by all. This is the Sun God, also known as Nika.Fans know that the tale of the Sun God Nika actually stems from the land of Elbaf, as was confirmed in the Egghead Island Arc by Vegapunk himself. Fans know for a fact that the tales of the Sun God Nika from Elbaf precede even Joy Boy, who existed 800 years ago in theOne Pieceworld. Nika existed as a legend from Elbaf, and whether this God was real or not is something that no one really knows. What fans know for a fact is that Elbaf worships Nika as a true God, and so far, this particular person is the only God that fans know exists in the land.
Right now, fans know that the title of Sun God belongs to none other than Luffy. He ate the Gomu Gomu no Mi, and with it, gained the powers of Nika. However, recently, a new character was introduced with the title of Sun God. This character was seen in the fake Elbaf that the Straw Hat Pirates found themselves in. This character was recently revealed in One Piece chapter 1128, and it is safe to say that they are going to play an incredibly exciting role in the future of One Piece. Of course, the legitimacy of the Sun God title that this character holds is still up for debate. Given that Luffy is the Sun God, it is highly likely that this person is actually not a Sun God at all and just pretends to be the Sun God, just as they seem to love to be the ruler of a world that they create themselves.
What Is The Real Identity Of The Sun God?
The Real Identity Of The Sun God Could Be Hel
Clearly, the character that fans saw inOne Piecechapter 1128 is not the real Sun God. There can only be one Sun God and that person is Nika. The powers of the Nika fruit belonged to Joy Boy long ago, and right now, they belong to Luffy. If anyone is the Sun God, it is Luffy, and whoever this other person is, is clearly not the Sun God and simply loves to play God. But, then, there arises the question of who this person truly is. Fans do not know the true identity of this person, as things stand.
However, what is clear is that they might be actually derived from a deity that exists in Norse mythology. Looking at the design of this character, fans can tell that they are somewhat special when compared to regular Giants. They are not bulky, and carry a bit of unique charisma about them. This character wears a fur jacket, and a deer skull with giant horns on top. In one of their hands, they carry a shield with a sun symbol on it, while the other has a staff with a sun symbol on it.
I will not let you escape! – the Sun God
Clearly, this character truly does believe themselves to be the Sun Godor, at the very least, loves pretending to be the Sun God. This suggests that they admire the Sun God and might end up being an ally of the Straw Hat Pirates later down the line.
As far as the identity of the Sun God goes, however, fans can only make a guess based on their appearance. Curiously enough, there is a goddess that exists in Norse mythology that looks very similar to this character. This goddess is known as Hel. Hel is a very intriguing goddess who is seen with a similar deer-like skull and even a feather jacket. The staff is also something that Hel shares in common with this particular character. All in all, the character design that Oda introduced for the Sun God in the previous chapter matches Hel very well. For those who do not know who Hel is,she is a daughter of Lokiand a very dangerous individual in Norse mythology.
Hel is said to be the goddess of death, and at the same time, the ruler of the underworld. The fact that the Hyllmungandr snake was under the command of Hel is also good proof of the fact that this character might actually be Hel. At the same time, fans could also see the lean stature of this person, which resembles how Oda draws women in general. Hel might very well be a woman, and Oda could potentially confirm it in the upcoming chapters of the story.
Even if this character is not Hel, fans know that Oda is surely going to introduce many Gods in the Elbaf arc. Loki has already been confirmed, and given that fans know that he is a prince of the Kingdom, his father, who is likely going to be Odin, could also appear in this story arc. Fans also know that Thor is a character that could potentially make an appearance in this arc, and that is something that they absolutely cannot wait to see.The Elbaf Arc has just begun, and things are only going to get more exciting moving forward.
One Piece is available to read via Viz Media. The series can be read by the fans officially and for free on the Shonen Jump and theManga Plusapp. The release date for the next chapter of One Piece, One Piece 1128, is set to be Jul 24, 2025.
