This article contains spoilers from One Piece’s Elbaf Arc.
Summary
Loki is one of the most exciting charactersthat Oda introduced recently inOne Piece. This character was first mentioned in the Whole Cake Island arc, but fans never actually got to see what he looked like and what his character was all about until the Elbaf Arc arc, which was expected, to say the least. Now, fans have seen Loki in the flesh for the first time, and it is clear that he is going to be an absolutely major driving force in this particular segment of the story.
It was recently revealed that Loki, as is true to the individual that he derives inspiration from, isn’t quite a good guy and, at the same time, has continuously been causing all sorts of trouble in Elbaf, which has led him to be called the Accursed Prince.
Loki’s Troublesome Past in One Piece
InOne Piecechapter 1130, fans found out bits of exciting information pertaining to Loki. It was revealed to the fans that Loki is the son of King Harald, who used to rule Elbaf until recently. King Harald had two children. The first one is none other than Hajrudin, who fans were introduced to during the Dressrosa Arc. While Hajrudin isn’t entirely nice, fans know at the very least that he’s allied with Luffy and is somewhat trustworthy. He was seen in Dressrosa on a hunt for a powerful Devil Fruit because he intended to be the King of Elbaf. Now, it makes sense as to why he wanted to do that. It Just so happens that Hajrudin’s younger brother is more problematic than one could imagine.

At some point, Harald had another son, and this child was none other than Loki. Fans were made aware of the fact that Loki was problematic right from the beginning. He committed all sorts of evil acts, and eventually, this led to him being punished. Loki was sentenced to crucifixion and this punishment was eventually carried out. However, he made it so difficult that the entirety ofElbaf had to come together to stop him. Loki’s strength is absolutely immense, and only the might of an entire country was able to put him into place and get some chains on him.
The biggest reason why Loki is called the Accursed Prince is because of his evil acts. Loki hasn’t just committed one evil act. He has committed one heinous act after another, and this has led to him getting this reputation. It is believed that even before Loki committed the most heinous act of his life, he still held this name, but it only solidified his title further.
How Loki Ate The Legendary Devil Fruit Of Elbaf
Loki Murdered His Own Father To Eat A Devil Fruit
InOne Piecechapter 1130, it was revealed that there exists a legendary Devil Fruit in Elbaf that is passed down the royal line. Curiously enough, no one seems to have eaten this Devil Fruit. This legendary Devil Fruit likely holds tremendous might. The fact that this Devil Fruit is said to have been passed down the royal line implies that no one actually ate it and that it was being saved for someone special. It appears that at some point, Loki started getting obsessed with this Devil Fruit. The obsession grew to a point where he went against his own father, King Harald, and ended up killing him. Murdering his own father in cold blood was never going to sit right with the prideful warriors of Elbaf. This is one of the many evil acts that Loki committed that led to him being sentenced to crucifixion. However, it must be said that Loki succeeded in eating the legendary Devil Fruit of Elbaf.

This Devil Fruit likely gave him tremendous might, which is why the entire country needed to band together to actually stop him. Nonetheless, he was eventually stopped and is currently in the base of Elbaf, which Oda compares to Niflheim, as is evident from Elbaf’s design.
Loki is currently chained, but Elbaf Giants, even the strong ones, believe that if he is ever set loose, he will destroy the entire world as they know it. This implies that Loki possesses tremendous might and that nobody can actually stop him, not even the strongest individuals in the world.
This seemingly implies that whatever Devil Fruit that Loki ate holds incredible power. Any Devil Fruit with a legendary name is bound to hold enough power to shake the entire world. This isn’t a surprise to anyone. But, in the case of Loki’s Devil Fruit, it has been implied that this Devil Fruit has given him even enough power to destroy the world, and in other words, it is comparable, in some ways, to the Gura Gura no Mi, which fans know also holds the power to destroy the world.
In Loki’s case, however, this Devil Fruit has even more importance attached to it, because it is known to have been saved by the Giants and passed down from one generation to another, likely from the Giants of the void Century, being preserved for the right person to eat it.
Loki’s Sun God Title And The End Of The World
Loki Calls Himself The Man Who Will Destroy The World
One Piecechapter 1130 also revealed Loki’s official title to the fans, which was, of course, the Accursed Prince. But,Loki believes himself to be something else entirely. In a shocking reveal, fans found out that Loki considers himself to be the Sun God. He also intends to destroy the world. Now, this might be confusing to the fans for many reasons. The biggest of them all is that fans know that the Sun God is not a destroyer. The Sun God brings about peace, so Loki claiming to be the Sun God and wanting to destroy the world are, in essence, contradictory statements.
But, it is highly likely that there is a tale that is passed down Elbaf and Loki was inspired by this tale in one way or another. Perhaps, this tale states that the Sun God will come and start Ragnarok, or in other words, a major war that will eventually bring peace to the entire world. It can also be interpreted as the Sun God fighting a major war against great evil, and reshuffling the entire world by destroying it first. This makes sense, given that fans know that a Great War is coming up and that Luffy, who is the actual Sun God, is going to fight it. This also adds up, given that fans know that Luffy will, at some point, destroy Fishman Island in the future.
As such, Luffy will go on to destroy the cruel world built by the Celestial Dragons before he liberates everyone. Perhaps,Loki has misinterpreted this message and believes that he has to destroy the worldthrough strength and that is why he claims himself to be the Sun God. This plotline will surely get more focus from Oda in the future, but for now, this is everything that fans know about Loki and his title of Accursed Prince, and why he believes himself to be the Sun God.
