ThePersonaseries has been on a roll these past few years, considering the consistent amount of content it’s received on a near-annual basis. In just this console generation alone, the Japanese developer Atlus has globally released 4 major new installments in the franchise. In 2020, the studio launchedPersona 5 Royalon PS4. In 2021, meanwhile, it brought the musou-style hack-and-slashPersona 5 Strikersto the West. As for 2023, on the other hand, Atlus released the strategy RPGP5spin-off,Persona 5 Tactica, on all platforms. And finally, in 2024, it droppedPersona 3 Reload, a remake of the third entry in thePersonafranchise, on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC. In addition to all these new titles, Atlus also madePersonaa fully multiplatform series in 2022 with the release ofPersona 3 Portable,Persona 4 Golden, andPersona 5 Royalon all modern systems.

Given how activePersonahas been as of late, it’s somewhat surprising that Atlus hasn’t shared much information about the future of the series. The last time the company made aPersona-related announcement was back in March of this year when it revealed thatthePersona 3 Reload: Episode Aigisexpansion was in development. Other thanP3Rand its aforementioned DLC, which came out early last month, the developer has spent most of its efforts in 2024 prioritizing and marketing the other non-Personatitles in its catalog, likeUnicorn Overlord,Shin Megami Tensei 5: Vengeance, and most recently,Metaphor: ReFantazio. Since the roadmap for the franchise currently seems light, Atlus could be gearing up to reveal some unannouncedPersonagames later this year.

Atlus Could Reveal Some New Persona Games This Year To Fill Up Its Release Calendar

Persona 5: The Phantom X Seems Ripe For a Worldwide Reveal in 2024

At the moment, the only officially-announcedPersonatitle that’s yet to receive a full launch isPersona 5: The Phantom X.P5X, as it’s often labeled, is an RPGspin-off of Atlus’s flagship franchise that features gacha game mechanics, the first of its kind in that regard. While the game has technically been released for iOS, Android, and Windows PCs, it’s currently only available in select East Asian territories.

Persona 5: The Phantom Xmade its debut in mainland China, South Korea, Macau, and Taiwan in April 2024, and is slated to debut in Japan sometime in the near future. An international release and English localization ofP5Xhaven’t been confirmed, but Atlus could surprise fans by announcing a global launch forP5Xat one of the upcoming showcases scheduled to take place later this year, like The Game Awards 2024.

Persona 6 is Long Overdue for an Official Announcement

Speaking of The Game Awards 2024, one other game that seems poised for a formal reveal at this event isthe long-awaitedPersona 6. Now, Atlus hasn’t outright confirmed that a sixth mainlinePersonainstallment is in the works, but various job listings and developer interviews throughout the years have alluded to its existence. By 2026, the originalPersona 5will be roughly a decade old, so it’s about time that Atlus gives fans an official update onPersona 6later in 2024. Even a vague, 30-second teaser trailer with nothing but a logo reveal would probably be enough to get gamers excited.

Atlus May Have Some Surprise Announcements in Store for 2024

Assuming that Atlus does have some new titles to reveal this year, it will be interesting to see if the company unveilsPersona 6andPersona 5: The Phantom Xat the same event, or if it saves at least one of these announcements for 2025. Of course, there’s also the possibility that Atlus will reveal neither of these two games and will announce something completely out of left field instead, likeaPersona Q3. Either way, the possibilities are endless when it comes to potentialPersonagame reveals.
