Zenless Zone Zerois still a relatively young game, so a lot of the individual characters' lore isn’t fully fleshed out yet. AmongZenless Zone Zero’s Agents, Soldier 11 is still a mystery. She is an S-rank Fire-type Attack Agent and is a member of the Obol Squad, a faction that’s tied to the New Eridu Defense Force Obsidian Division. Not much is known about Soldier 11, but some hints about her lore show that she might be an important ally to Phaethon and the gang.
What is Known About Soldier 11 So Far
InZenless Zone Zero, most fans first meet Soldier 11 when they play through the “Mole in the Hole” Agent Story. The Agent introduces herself as Obol Squad’s Defense Force Sergeant, making her the Primary Responder and Striker of the faction. In the mission, she reaches out to Phaethon about finding a mole in her team, fighting through hordes of soldiers andEthereals in the Hollowin the quest to uncover the truth.
Throughout “Mole in the Hole,“Zenless Zone Zeroplayers find out that Soldier 11 is both mysterious and socially awkward, mostly speaking like a serious soldier, and insists on giving Phaethon a military nickname. But she also has a lighthearted side, as she’s seen interacting with theSixth Street catsand talks about her love of spicy noodles.
Soldier 11 is also a playable S-rank Agentthat can be pulled from the standard banner. Once players obtain her, they can unlock Trust Missions and Trust Events to raise their friendship rating with her. Additionally, Soldier 11’s assets, teaser, and in-game details reveal that she’s given up her identity long ago, and is now only known by her codename.

The Relationship Between Soldier 11 and Anby Demara
Soldier 11’s character teaser video, titled “The Defense Force’s ‘Ruthless’ Operation,” shows the Agent fighting against soldiers whileAnby Demara’s voice is guiding her. This detail establishes an obvious connection between the two, especially since manyZenless Zone Zerofans have pointed out that they have similar character designs and the fact that they both wield swords.
Soldier 11 and Anby could be Obol Squad colleagues before the events ofZenless Zone Zero, where the latter is now part of theCunning Hares with Nicole Demara and Billy Kid. Apart from the cinematic, fans noticed that if they switched out Soldier 11 for Anby, the former’s Chinese voice line would refer to the Agent as “zero,” which could be Anby’s old codename. There’s also a running theory that Soldier 11 may be an Anby clone, which could explain their similar features and combat styles.
In Greek mythology, an obol is an ancient coin used as payment to Charon and is usually placed over the eyes or inside the mouth of the dead. This connection to death could signify that the Obol Squad is a type of strike team or group of assassins.
Zenless Zone Zerohasn’t properly introduced the Obol Squad in the game yet, so it’s still unclear how Soldier 11 and possibly Anby became involved with the faction and the role the faction plays in the story. But looking atZenless Zone Zero’s previous updates, the main story missions usually put the spotlight on specific factions, such as theSons of Calydon in Version 1.2.
The hope now is for a future update to go deep into the Obol Squad’s lore, touching upon Soldier 11’s role in the faction and how she’s related to Anby. This lore expansion would not only add more excitement toZenless Zone Zero’s story but also give avid players a glimpse of how the Obol Squad contributes to the fight against the Hollow’s evil forces.
