Summary

The Halloween Terror event inOverwatch 2this year only has a single non-XP reward in the form of the Mutated Monster title – and fans are not happy. While many fans are enjoying the new Junkenstein’s Laboratory game mode, the lackluster rewards available during theOverwatch 2event have soured it for them.

Overwatch 2has officially released its 13th seasonal content update since the sequel’s launch. To get in the spirit of the Halloween season,Overwatch 2Season 13: Spellbinder brings a refresh to the Battle Passfull of witch-themed cosmetics, including Spellbinder Widowmaker as the Mythic skin. The season’s launch on October 15 also heralded the beginning of the Halloween Terror event, which offers a handful of in-game challenges fans can complete until November 5.

However, this new in-game event is lacking one of its most important aspects. In addition to a bunch of Battle Pass XP, in-game events, such asOverwatch 2’s recent anniversary event, have given away player icons, titles, sprays, or even skins to those who complete the challenges. However, Halloween Terror 2024 only offers a single non-XP reward: the Mutated Monster player title. Needless to say, fans like kSai_ are not pleased with this fact and have made their displeasure known on Reddit.

Overwatch 2 Halloween Terror 2024 Event Rewards

To compare, theMy Hero Academiacrossover event, which went live on October 17 a couple of days after Halloween Terror, has nearly the same amount of challenges associated with it. However, fans can earn six different sprays, as well as a player title and Battle Pass XP, for completing them. While even this event isn’t giving away anyfree skins likeOverwatch 2did during theOne Punch Manor LE SSERAFIM crossovers, it at least has more incentives for participation.

There are plenty of old Halloween-themed skins, such as Will-o-Wisp Tracer, that are not currently available for purchase, and that could have fit well in the event. Alternatively, fans think some of the recoloredOverwatch 2skins coming to the shop in Season 13, such as Divinator Kiriko or Grill Zombie: 67, would have been better as event rewards.

The Halloween Terror event is not all bad, however. Junkenstein’s Laboratory – anewOverwatch 2game mode featuring customizable talentsfor a selection of heroes – has been popular, and players have nothing but good things to say about it so far. Even so, the fact there is hardly any reward for actually playing it beyond the experience tarnishes an otherwise amazing game mode. Hopefully,Overwatch 2does not take away the wrong message from the mode’s potential low engagement numbers because of this and leave Junkenstein’s Laboratory in the dust.
