Overwatch 2players have pointed out an unresolved bug on the Samoa map, which was first added to the game a year ago. This issue appears to be related to the carpets scattered around parts of the map, which have been proven to interfere with certain abilities inOverwatch 2and disrupt gameplay as a result.
Thetropical Samoa is one ofOverwatch 2’s newer Control maps, introduced to the game in October 2023. The map has actually remained a strong favorite among many fans since its release, with many considering it a significant step-up in quality when compared to some ofOverwatch 2’s other modern Control maps, such as Antarctic Peninsula.
Some fans, however, have pointed out that one aspect of the map remains bugged after all this time - the carpets. As has been demonstrated in a number of clips online, the carpets lying around in various buildings across Samoa can prevent certain shockwave-based area-of-effectabilities inOverwatch 2from damaging enemies. This includes abilities such as Doomfist’s Seismic Slam, Venture’s Tectonic Shock Ultimate ability, and even Reinhardt’s Earthshatter Ultimate ability, all of which are demonstrated in the clip. The shockwaves created by these abilities stop when reaching the carpets as if they were impacting a solid wall, likely due to the carpets actually being independent objects complete with their own collision parameters which interfere with AOE attacks' line-of-sight checks.

It’s not clear exactly how many abilities in the game may be affected by this issue, though there are likely to be more than those which have been directly tested by fans. Some ofOverwatch 2’s most recent patcheshave delivered a handful of bug fixes, though these mostly consist of quality-of-life and menu fixes rather than major map or character fixes.
Still,Overwatch 2’s most recent major update has brought some major changes and additions to the game. Various balance tweaks have impacted a wide variety of heroes including Ramattra, Reinhardt, and Sombra. Some maps have also been adjusted to improve the flow of gameplay wherever possible, andOverwatch 2fans can jump into this year’s Halloween Terrorevent alongside the start of the game’s 13th season, which introduces a new mythical skin for Widowmaker alongside a plethora of other spooky cosmetic goodies.
