ThePersonaseries is known for its challenging optional bosses, from the menacing, ever-approaching Reaper to tricky battles against previous protagonists. One recurring staple of the series is the ability to battle the game’s Velvet Room Attendant, who typically use a mix of high-level Personas and abilities. However,Persona 6could bring thisPersonatradition to the next level by allowing players to battle not just the Velvet Room’s newest attendant, but its master Igor himself.
Persona 3/Portable/Reload
Elizabeth/Theodore
May not block, repel, or absorb attacks using Personas or items. Frequently fully heals. Battle limit 50 turns. Fought solo.
Persona 3 Portable/Persona 4
Margaret
Must deal 5000 damage every 10 turns. Attacks twice per turn. Battle limit 50 turns.
Persona 5
Caroline & Justine
Both fought at once. Battle consists of series of phases using different attack types.
Persona 5 Royal
Lavenza
Battle consists of a series of phases. Ends automatically if each phase is not cleared.
SincePersona 3,players have had the option of challenging the Velvet Room’s attendantin late-game, high-level battles. It is generally recommended that players undertake this challenge only once they have reached the max level. Winning these fights typically requires bringing optimized weapons and specifically designed Personas with skills capable of countering the Attendant’s. Often, a player will need to challenge the attendants multiple times to get to know their attack pattern, the Personas they use, and any special conditions of the fight.
The Master Of The Velvet Room Remains Unchallenged
Igor has appeared in theVelvet Roomsince the firstPersonagame, and has been fully in charge of it sincePersona 3(a role he took over from the still-missing Philemon.) Igor is shown to be a master of all things related to Personas - he can manage the Persona Compendium, fuse Personas together, strengthen them, and perform many other related tasks.
However, despite his power and connection to the Velvet Room, Igor has never appeared as an optional boss like the attendants have.InPersona 5, the villain Yaldabaothdisguises himself as Igor for much of the game, and does fight the party, but he is not the real Igor and does not fight like Igor presumably would. Players have wanted the chance to challenge Igor since the Velvet Room attendant battles were first announced, and he would certainly be a tricky boss that would put everythingplayers have learned about Personas to the test.
How An Igor Boss Fight Could Work
LikeElizabeth/Theodore, Margaret, the twins and Lavenza, a hypotheticalPersona 6Igor boss battle would likely be a tricky late-game battle that could come with special rules. Ideally, Igor should also use extremely high-level Personas, such as the Ultimate Personas of the various Major Arcana. While it cannot be predicted exactly how Igor would behave as a boss, some potential options might include:
In addition to Igor, an even harder challenge could bePhilemon, the original master of the Velvet Room who has been missing sincePersona 2 Eternal Punishment.Philemon is sometimes theorized to be the creator or originator of the Persona system, and his mastery of battling with Personas could top even Igor’s. Alternately, the player could battle Nameless, Belladonna, and the Demon Painter, the unfought Attendants fromPersona 2,in addition to whatever new Attendant or AttendantsPersona 6will almost certainly introduce.
