The Velvet Room Attendants have been an integral part of thePersonaseries sincePersona 2.Usually young-looking, blue-clad individuals, the Attendants help Velvet Room master Igor with duties like maintaining the Persona Compendium, fusing Personas together, and providing the protagonist with cryptic advice. Until now, the majority of the Velvet Room Attendants have been female, withPersona 3 Portable’sTheodore as the primary exception. However,Persona 6may need to feature a male Velvet Room attendant if it chooses to continue the series' naming convention.
Velvet Room Attendants Are Named After Frankenstein Characters
All Velvet Room attendants inPersonagames are given names drawn fromMary Shelley’sFrankenstein,a classic work of science fiction and horror literature. These names pair well with Igor, a name that is often used for the laboratory assistant of Victor Frankenstein. (The originalFrankensteinnovel did not feature an Igor character, but a hunchbacked assistant, variably called Fritz, Igor, or Ygor, has appeared in many Universal StudiosFrankensteinfilms.) This trend has continued throughout the mainPersonagames.

There Are Few Female Names Left To Use
With so many female Velvet Room attendants appearing throughout the series, most female character names inFrankensteinhave already been used. There are few female characters in the novel, to the point wherePersonawriters had to use the minor Margaret, who never appears in person and is simply the recipient of letters.Lavenza, which is the last name of the character Elizabeth, is also made into a first name and given to an attendant appearing briefly inPersona 5and more frequently inPersona 5 Royal.
There are, however, many unused male character names in the originalFrankensteinnovel whose names could be used foran attendant inPersona 6.Even if thePersonawriters wish to avoid using Victor Frankenstein himself, they could draw from any of these individuals:
It should be noted, however, that there are two unclaimed female names fromFrankenstein, even without having to rely on last names like Lavenza. During the Monster’s time in the wilderness, he spies on a peasant family which includes two female members, Agatha and Safie. These are characters who beat the Monster and drive him away when he tries to speak with them, so those names could serve well for a potentially villainousVelvet Room attendant.
Persona 6May Move Away From The Frankenstein Theme
However, there is one big hint thatPersona 6may be moving away from the series tradition of naming its attendants after characters fromFrankenstein.Inthe mobile gamePersona 5: The Phantom X,Igor has an assistant named Merope, whose name does not come fromFrankenstein.Instead, she is named after one of the Pleiades from Greek mythology. As there are seven Pleiades, all of whom are female, it is possible thatPersona 6and futurePersonatitles will continue featuring female Velvet Room attendants with names following this new theme instead.
