Summary
Planet Coaster 2is the hotly anticipated sequel toPlanet Coasterand ultimately the latest and greatest continuation of theRollerCoaster Tycoonspirit. After an 8-year gap between the two games, players can expect many improvements and new features in the sequel.
While some of these advancements are thanks to new technology, other features might be recognizable to players of Frontier Developments' other games, such asPlanet Zoo. This is certainly true for some building mechanics, butPlanet Coaster 2takes things even further for an all-around better experience. In terms of new features, fans have a lot to be excited about with water parks, more customization, and new roller coaster pieces.
6Water Parks!
Create Water Slides & Pools
The biggest selling point ofPlanet Coaster 2over the original, has to be the addition of water parks, which include pools, flumes, and slides. Many theme parksand resorts across the world offer either indoor or outdoor water parks in addition to roller coasters, and now players are able to offer their guests splashtastic fun.
Players can easily create pools of any shape and size, and then place customizable water rides or make unique flumes from scratch. They will need to provide changing rooms for guests, and always verify there is a lifeguard watching. If it’s sunny, players must also make sure there is ample shade or sunscreen for those drying out or relaxing after a swim.
5The Scenery Brush
This Makes Decorating A Park With Trees, Rocks, & Other Scenery Faster
Thanks to the new scenery brush, decorating an entire park and filling all the awkward-looking gaps has never been easier. For example, players may choose a preset brush for large tropical trees, and by essentially painting the ground, an array of these trees will be placed instantly. This saves players from having to meticulously place items, and, due to randomness, the results shouldlook more natural and realistic.
Of course, players can then go in and individually edit some items, add more, or resize. The options for this brush include size, intensity, and path avoidance. Best of all, however, is the ability to create custom brushes out of almost any scenery items.
4A More Intuitive Path System
It’s Easier To Build Paths & There Are More Tools
Planet CoasterandPlanet Zooplayers know the pain of constructing paths that never want to line up. Thankfully, this important aspect of the game has been vastly improved inPlanet Coaster 2. Not only is the standard toolmuch easier to useand more forgiving, but players will discover plenty of new options too.
For example, creating plazas has never been easier with the stamp tool, which allows players to place large circles, squares, or other shapes. There is also a drawing tool allowing players to easily connect odd bits of path or make some truly unique shapes. Even the option to delete the middle sections of a path is a huge plus.
3A Resize Tool For Most Scenery Items
This Enhances Creativity & Can Help Items Fit
In previousPlanetgames, items came in one size and that was that. Thankfully, one of the best additions toPlanet Coaster 2is the ability to resize most scenery items. This is great for creative players who can play around with vastly shrunken or enlarged items, perhaps giving them new uses.
It is also great in general, as sometimes a gap needs to be plugged by an item of a specific size, or at other times an object doesn’t quite fit. Lastly, the ability to scale items also helps scenery look random and natural, especially when it comes totrees and other plants.
2Customize Rides
Attach Scenery Items To Rides & Cars
Creative players can truly go wildinPlanet Coaster 2with the ability to attach scenery items directly to roller coaster cars. Practically anything can be added, and best of all, it is easy to mirror items. For example, a light placed on one side of the car can be mirrored to appear on the other side.
These items can then be twinned onto every car for that particular ride. With the amount of scenery items available, all of which can be scaled and rotated, the sky is truly the limit. This is in addition to standard customization options for rides and cars, with colors, patterns, and even audio to play around with.
1Drop Tracks, Switch Tracks & More
These Highly Requested Roller Coaster Features Are Here
While the original game had a great selection of coasters, there were a few noticeable absences, such as drop tracks and switch tracks. Drop tracks are essentially where the entire track and the attached cars plummet to the ground in a horizontal freefall, as was first showcased by TH13TEEN at Alton Towers in total darkness.
TH13TEEN is a great example as it also uses a switch track to change the direction the ride goes in. There are many uses for switch tracks, and with them now available inPlanet Coaster 2, players can build the rides of their dreams. There are also turntables, tilts and other similar additions.
