Summary
Playing into the main focus ofMinecraft’snewest biome, most of the community has vocalized wanting to see more flora in thePale Garden. As this supposed “garden” seems more like a forest in its current iteration, the need for new plants, flowers, or other natural features added specifically for this new, eerie location is clear.
With the Pale Garden already featuring an array of new and exclusive pale foliage so far, adding flowers and vegetation to break up the slightly swamp-inspired landscape would add a lot to this garden, alongside structuresthat better cement the garden image in players' minds. While plenty of suggestions have been posted online, here are fiveplant concepts that could greatly add to the ominous atmosphere of the Pale Garden.
5Hedge Maze
Abandoned Garden Features
As an in-between of a building and a plant, abandoned andovergrown hedge mazesfound throughout the Pale Garden biome could add to the sense of age and decay the trees and hanging moss seem to indicate. With the Creaking stalking through the pale grass, this maze could have what amounts to “scare actors,” should a Creaking spawn within or at an entrance.
Since the hedge maze would function as a building, there would be the opportunity for chests with rewards to be hidden inside. Outside of that, having the new pale oak leaves used in this kind of build could better demonstrate itsbuilding potential for players,or suggest lore as to why the maze was built in the first place.
4Thorny Bushes
A Natural Trap
Since the Pale Garden already has a variant of moss in the expectedly-named Pale Moss, the potential for other pale plant variants is plentiful. For a plant that could double as a trap for the Creaking to find victims in, athorny bushwould be perfect.
A pallid version of thesweet berry bush, the thorny bush may not produce the same berries as its counterpart is named for, but it would still have the slight thorns effect as its counterpart. Most notably, a thorny bush would retain the same slowing effect when a player tries to walk through it. As the Creaking are already so slow, having natural traps to slow players down as they attempt to flee would add an edge to this haunting mob.
3Pale Oak Variant
Weeping Willow Design
While not technically a “new” block or object in the game, having different designs for the Pale Oak Trees would help thebiome better distinguish itselffrom the strikingly similar Dark Oak Forest and add a better visual connection between the weeping willow-like Pale Oak Sapling and the tree that it makes.
Adding to the current use for Pale Oak Saplings growing into a standard Pale Oak when in a 2x2 configuration, planting a single tree would result in a more willow-inspired design, removing lines of sight for players in the Pale Garden and creating a more oppressive atmosphere. It would also be fun to see the falling leaves, which is signature to cherry blossom leaves, be used again in a different context, adding false movement to keep players more on edge.
2New Flowers
Pale Variants And Funeral Flowers
To truly make this new region a garden, flowersare a must. Whether that means preexisting flowers or entirely new ones, many players agree that adding flowers to the Pale Garden is non-negotiable for completing the idea of this biome. For two options that match the eerie and slightly dreary feel of the Pale Garden, these variants of a lily and rose bush could fit right in.
The Pale Rose Bush and the Amber Lilycould add some unique variety to this strange, strange garden, with the lily offering a fake-out for the Creaking at night. Any kind of flower would be appreciated in this biome, but completely new flowers would be even better, especially if they have aspookier edge to them.
1White Pumpkins
Perfectly Autumnal
Undoubtedly the most requested plant for the Pale Garden isa white variant of Pumpkins, plus a spectral Soul-Flame version of Jack O' Lanterns, which would be a perfect addition to the biome. Originally appearing in theMinecraft: Story Modegame, these ghoulish gourds truly couldn’t be a more fitting block for this pale region.
Adding a touch of Halloween and autumn to this dreary forest, plus a reason for it to be called a garden at all, the White Pumpkin would add variety to general crops in the game, add a new light source that feels spookier than a standard soul torch, and give players even more incentive to search the Pale Garden when it fully releases.
