In the spirit of Halloween, aPokemonfan crafted a Jack-o'-Lantern with the face of Spiritomb carved into the front of a hollowed-out pumpkin. ThePokemonpumpkin carver shared their finished handiwork on social media and said that the Spiritomb Jack-o'-Lantern was made for a specific purpose.
Known as the Forbidden Pokemon, Spiritomb first appeared inPokemon Diamond and Pearl. As a Dark and Ghost dual-type Pokemon, Spiritomb is known for the purple and green swirls that comprise its face. Unlike other creatures in the Sinnoh region, trainers who want to catch a Spiritomb must undertake a few steps first. After acquiring the Odd Keystone on Route 208,Pokemonplayers must talk to 32 characters in Sinnoh’s Underground and head for the Hallowed Tower to start an encounter with Spiritomb. InPokemon Scarlet and Violet,Spiritomb can be found in fixed locationsthroughout the snowy portions of the Paldea region.
Given Spiritomb’s reputation as one ofthe top Ghost Pokemon trainers can catch, onePokemonfan chose to carve the Forbidden Pokemon into a fitting tribute. A Reddit user named Araki-Forgot- posted two pictures on the r/pokemon subreddit of a Spiritomb Jack-o'-Lantern they carved. The first picture was taken with the room lights on, which gave a clear view of the paint used for Spiritomb’s face. Although only the front of the pumpkin was painted, Araki-Forgot- chose a dark shade of purple to make Spiritomb’s face stand out. The carver painted the inside of the pumpkin a shade of fluorescent green. Three holes were carved to make Spiritomb’s forehead stick out, and its eye and mouth pattern were made larger to make the light source inside the Jack-o'-Lantern more prominent. In the second picture, the lights were dimmed and Spiritomb’s face was clearly shown in the middle of the carved-out pumpkin, thanks to the light source and green paint.

Although other Pokemon likePikachu have been carved into Jack-o'-Lantern patterns, Spiritomb is an uncommon subject ofPokemonfan art. Araki-Forgot- stated that the Spiritomb Jack-o'-Lantern they crafted was for a pumpkin carving contest at their job. While the contest’s results were not stated,Pokemonfans complimented Araki-Forgot- for their sharp skills. In one reply, anotherPokemontrainer shared their version of a Spiritomb Jack-o'-Lantern they made, which had a hallowed-out mouth and eyes instead of paint.
Between pumpkin carving andGhost Pokemon events inPokemon Scarlet and Violet,Pokemonfans can celebrate Halloween in several ways. How Araki-Forgot- and their Spiritomb will fare at their job’s pumpkin carving contest remains to be seen.
