According to them, when Sandygast is hit by an Electric-type move while holding the Ring Target item, it evolves into Fulgusand. Instead of the shovel on its head, the creature’s head has the form of a lightning bolt, a pointed mouth and jagged details around its body, and eyes made of molten glass.

The artist also confirmed via the comments section that both the name and the inspiration for the monster come from a rare real-world phenomenon called fulgurite, which happens when sand or rock is struck by lightning, forming natural tubes or crusts of glass.
