APokemonfan has gotten into the Halloween spirit by creating six spooky redesigns for Gastly. Making Halloween-inspired fan art is popular amongPokemonfans this time of year, and Gastly is an excellent choice for creating alternative looks based on the holiday.

As part of Gen 1, Gastly is among the firstGhost and Poison dual-type Pokemonseen in the series. The Pokemon has an appropriately ghostly appearance, being primarily made up of poisonous gas. In addition to its spookiness, Gastly is part of an equally spooky evolution line. It can evolve into Haunter, which then can evolve into Gengar. With Halloween on the horizon, a Reddit user known as MunchyKu has shared their six Gastly redesigns appropriate for the upcoming holiday. These new looks put neat spins on the Pokemon’s traditional design. For example, one variant imagines Gastly as a spider, with its traditional gaseous aura replaced with a web. Another design turns the Pokemon into a jack-o’-lantern, while yet another transforms it into what appears to be a flame that would be found on the tip of a candle. The other designs change its poisonous gas cloud to equally appropriate Halloween substances, such as green goo.

Halloween-Themed Looks for Gastly

Since sharing the post on Reddit, numerous fans have weighed in on the designs. With hundreds of upvotes, the community has applauded the effort MunchyKu put into the clever designs, and some wish these types of designs would make it into futurePokemongames. It is worth mentioning that MunchyKu has already redesigned other Pokemon for the Halloween season. Previously, the creator madeHalloween versions of Bulbasaur, and the results were as impressive as they were adorable. Other fan art included spooky versions for the other members of the Gastly evolution line, Gengar and Haunter.

Given their long history in thePokemonseries, Gastly and its evolutions have been the center of numerous fan creations over the years. Beyond the Halloween-themed looks created by MunchyKu, other artists have tried their hand at redesigns for the Ghost/Poison-type Pokemon. For example, one player recently maderegional variants of Gastly and its evolutions, giving them designs based on the Fire type.

Time will tell what other creative designs fan artists like MunchyKu will create. Besides the Gastly line, there are manyother scary-looking Pokemonthat could make for exciting Halloween-themed artwork. Alternatively, it could be interesting to see some less spooky Pokemon get redesigned for the holiday season.
